That looks great! How much sanding do you do before you paint? I have a few things I need to repaint, I was just going to hit it with the pressure washer to get the paint flakes off, but thought it might not be bad to sand some areas as well.

Did a lot of wire wheeling where there was bad rust , then just a light sanding over some of the original paint and a quick solvent cleanup before painting.

Yesterday I started on the A-Frame fabrication for the PHD

Had this laying around (or is it lying around) in the scrap pile

Cut down some 1/4" angle iron for the bracket

Drilled a couple of 3/4" holes and tack welded together

Tack welded it to the A-Frame metal and test-fit it

Welded it all up

Now I just need to determine the proper length to get the maximum travel,
cut and weld some brackets to the bottom and add a pair of Cat-1 hitch pins.

Today it is just too dang cold to do any shop work,
even with the heater running ! (I did try)

I must have too big of a shop OR too small of a heater,
leaning toward needing a new heater

So it was all about re-creating the warning decals for my Post Hole Digger.
Leinbach went under a couple of years ago so to the computer I went. :D

and now that is above negative temperatures, time to get plowing
IN A HEATED JEEP :D

Finished up the A-Frame tonight, happy with the up-down travel.

Welded a couple of tabs to accept the new 3-point pins

did a test run,

I ended up with 19.5" of clearance in the full up position, can get more with the four additional holes available on the boom ;)

and goes all the way to the ground and then some in the full down position ;)

I am wondering if it is proper to have the 3-point pins on the outside and tighten up against the lynch pins, Pulling the A-Frame outwards
(would make for an easier installation)

or should I have the pins on the inside?

Next is paint and decals, weather permitting ! :D

Well I have been known to stop on a dime when I see a chunk of metal on the side of the road LOL
AKA junk collector.

I've been told my garage looks like a hardware store but when you live a half hour from the hardware store you need to be well stocked.

That exposed PTO shaft has me nervous. Otherwise looks great.
Yes tis the life of a grey market tractor , I may make a cover for it. I do have all the covers for the auger end of the drive shaft however.

I never understood the theory that grey markets do not have PTO shaft covers there's one listed in my parts manual finding it might be another story though , just another fab job probably.

But, thank you for your positive comments.

Well if Winter would ever get here maybe I could rest a bit.

Today I got all the auger parts painted,
first I removed all the warning decals...

then a quick pass with the wire wheel...

and a coat of primer and Orange and Red paint...

then everything in the greenhouse to dry...
(May not be snowing much, but it still gets cold :p)

Now time to order the new decals :D

Picked up new Stainless Steel hardware today.

I was wondering how paint dried in that weather!

Need more to do? I can send a plow, pulverizer, disc, couple of 5' brush mowers, tiller, trailer or two..... sub-soiler, bale spike......

You seem to enjoy detail work!! Looks good. Takes a lot of patience.
