So at what point can a grass pile ignite, or can it at all? I've never known about how hay fires start or how hot silage bales can get when fermenting.
My little farm nissan tore up her alternator belt, So me and the youngin pushed her up under the house where I could chuck a belt on real quick today or tomorrow. He cut the grass friday, and loaded the back of the truck up with all the shavings and thats where she sat.
Last night he goes out to put the chickens up, walks by the back of the truck, and SHES SMOKIN!!! Pic didn't really pic it up here
He comes in to get me and I like naw im sure its fine. I walk out there and its so hot I can't even hold my hand in it. I'm like oh snap!
Got the ole girl out to start shoveling into the bucket so the house wouldn't burn down over night and man the heat was so intense.

I've seen hay bales ignite. Worked on a farm years ago and there was a wet spot in the field. We baled them and put them off to the side in the barn yard. Took about a week and they were smoldering. Had we put them in the loft the whole barn would of burnt.
It’s possible…typically happens when hay put in the barn before it has dried sufficiently. Conditions have to be right, but it’s not impossible. Would it have happened to n your case? Who knows. Let’s hope not.
it’s the same thing that happens when composting…compost pile can generate a lot of heat…when the water is evaporated it causes a reaction (chemical) and as the bacteria does its thing the reaction generates heat. I’ve turned my pile before and it’s charred in the center of pile and smoking. If it gets hot enough and gets enough correct moisture level (dry) and air flow (oxygen) then it most certainly could combust. (That’s my compost pile after just a few days after mixing the fresh cut grass)

Rolled 1000 hrs on the B1700. May have to burn a cigar in her honor later. Time to look up all the pampering she needs for this milestone. First, 3 hrs of hard mowing. Finally dry enough to get all the trails minus the woods opened.

finally completed the first mow up north this year (still wet), and it needed it. Grass was taller than the loader arms. What a mess. It really needs a good balin’. I picked up some balls of grass with the grapple. Glad to have the canopy, that’s for sure. It’s in the 80s and humid up here.
The hydraulic top link is awesome, with the quick hitch on. However if not using the quick hitch it could sure use a set of controls on the rear of the machine. Sure is nice once hooked up and makes trimming the implement pretty seamless.
then I finally finished the install on the logging winch, but I am too out of gas to feel that I could focus and safely operate it. (Fit the guard, scabbard, and the pto shaft)
It’s modelo time now

I’m quite happy with my top link as well. May put so 90s on it. If I lift it almost all the way up and pull the top link in it puts some pressure on the hoses but that’s minor anywaysGood day.

My hoses seem to be fine but I run out of room with the cross piece across the back of the machine with the winch on….its has a really tall top link relative to most implements.
with the brush cutter it’s not an issue…I can run in/out no worries. Its really helpful…I suspect it will prevent 1 or 2 twisted ankles per year from not having to get on/off the machine so many times.
For sure. Definitely wish I had one sooner. Beats switching out or adjusting top links multiple times a day

They were fine with the rear blade and landplane but when I put on the winch it would crush the loops when I lifted it if I didn't extend the TL first before lifting. After I forgot enough times I cracked a hose open by bending it to tight. After that I put in some 90's and turned the side link 180. Now I have plenty of room. I put an extra male to male fitting on the top QD's to bring them out enough so they could rotate 360 w/o hitting the lower set of QD's and hoses.
Thanks for the knowledge share…until I get used to it I am keeping a close on it. That is good to know and I’ll watch for that.
regarding your winch, does your pto shaft have safety chains for the shaft cover? If so what do you fasten them to? My winch sets pretty close to the machine and not much room for a full figured gent to snap the chains…at least not IMO.

Yes, I have light chains on the shaft covers. There is a hole in the hinged guard that is over the top of the pto output shaft area that the chain snaps into.

Busy weekend for the Oranges...
Started out Friday getting the rest of the free dirt moved to my back yard. I cleaned up the people's yard where the dirt was located. I figured they gave me some nice dirt I should make it easy on them.
Stacked dirt (rain coming). It's grown into quite a pile.
Brush burning and range enhancement day. Quite a pile of brush to burn. It's hot (88 degrees) and I'm covered head to toe to keep from getting burned and bitten by bugs.
Added some more room to the range for the "guest shooter" accommodations.
Used some millings for under the table so I don't have to mow/weed whack there anymore.

Pulled a couple of logs off my pile and cut them into firewood length, and my brother & split about a cord and a half Saturday. Yesterday pulled it into the shop to change the oil and grease her up. It has 300 hours so I'm doing oil and fuel, but what about HST and Trans fluid or filter? Both filters and a substantial amount of UDT2 were done at 200 hours.

This weekend I purchased pallet forks and a rock bucket for my BX23S. I was lucky that one my semi-local Kubota dealerships is a Redline dealer so I got the rock bucket for a decent price and didn't have to pay shipping. There's some sort of $150 off promotion, and I got the LandPride forks for $770.
The pallet forks are great, and I absolutely love having the SSQA ... between that and a Pat's Hitch on my 3pt, it's so easy changing out implements.

It’s still pretty wet but I was able to pick some wood that needed moved. Gave me a chance to use the little red wagon that I recently converted to a dumper. Definitely better than rehanging the wood…(only found one little wiggler in the piles)

It surprised me when I picked up the log, the very last one…my natural instinct seems to be flinch
...at least I did not scream in front of my wife. I think the little fella or fell-ette was more afraid of me…I believe it to be a garder snake which are not venomous.the hydraulic cylinder sure makes the wagon more functional…I still have not figured out the technique on the hoses though…may be O L D disease flaring up.
Pretty sure you have the puller setup backwards, "T" post goes into the triangle section... then again, I had not seen that style before... Usually, it's just a slot off the square end.
How does that one work? I have the slotted one and we be using for the first time this week...
