Wait, what’s wrong with using a sling to suspend a stump? Do I just not even know how unsafe I am?I'm afraid to post this because I'll get hated for but I pulled out this stump. It was easy to pull out, tractor didn't even struggle. The roots were rotted off. If I had chains (haven't had time to go to harbor freight yet to get a set) probably could have lifted it right out of the ground.
Anyways....

I know it's not proper use of a sling strap okay. It was the only way I could get it moved. Wasn't going to far just didn't want to drag it on the lawn where it came from. It felt stable, I couldn't move it and I made it safe to it's destination where it's going to rot the rest of the way.
Yes I know, I need to get chains. It's not like harbor freight is down the road from me...it's an hour trip.
I got it done and I felt safe.
Anyways, after I was done and about to park the tractor back in the garage. Some guy pulled into my driveway because he saw me with the tractor and started talking and he has a tractor too and attachments and told me if I needed any of them just drive the tractor to his house and hook them up!
This stuff is so new to me, I didn't know the tractor community is such a big thing. It was cool to meet another tractor owner that I never met before who's local. I'm not a super social person but it made me feel good![]()
OSHA is just a preface to something you are going or want to do. You have an idea you may want to try so you say OSHA which translates as Oh Say How About! We make OSHA sweat.
Yikes! There has to be a DIY solution for a miniscule fraction of that cost. I mean it just holds washer fluid and has a hose attached to it.Yep, a $250 mistake for sure.I suppose it's better to break a 3-1/2 year old part than a new part.
I think if i was going to buy a lift today I would look at those four individual wheel lift units controlled by a common remote. That is the EXACT analogy the boss used. Being quite pissed at this point, He went ahead and raised the tractor a few feet off the ground and said, "Lets see if the MF'er will collapse like a coke can."
Shes raises and lowers fine but that entire column has obviously been compromised now. And the metal on the column is flimsy enough we know we could probably straight it with some wood blocks and the forklift, but there is a pretty decent ripple at the base of the column now.

And I'm not sure what the FIL's MX5100 is weighing in at but we've been known to exceed the lift capacity often in that bay.
