I should have mentioned the discs can be replaced with various cultivators & I made a plow point to run behind discs to make the furrow for seeds/plants

Excellent! That's the view I was looking for. Hoping my welder has time to put one together for me.

My snowblower automation project was finished today :) The Blizzard B64 that I picked up last year came with a manual chute rotation crank and manual deflector control.
A short while ago I finished the chute rotation. It only took one storm to convince me that the deflector needed remote control.

It was a fun conversion. All in I have < $300 in everything.

I made 2 short videos showing the completed project

A walk around the finished conversion

Demo from the operation station

Part of the prep for the impending 12” snow prediction from the beginning of the week that has morphed, as always, into a “wintry mix” that’s probably going to be a bunch of freezing rain was getting in a load of firewood as I had about 15 pieces left in the house.

Wife picked up an old 3000lb platform truck off Craigslist for $20 a few years ago. The phenolic tires on the steel wheels were coming apart so it didn’t roll well. Scraped the tires off and it rolls great on its steel wheels.

Pre-Kubota used to get loads of wood from the wood lot in my pickup which resulted in moving it twice; once loading, once unloading. A set of forks on the Kubota slides neatly in the space between the platform bed and wheel support frame. It already had reinforced stake pockets on the open end so it was easy to make a drop in tailgate out of a couple pieces of Schedule 40 black iron pipe and some plywood scraps. When not on the tractor, the forks stay on the platform truck as they take up nominal space there and the platform truck/woodcart is then SSQA compatible.

Now I only load once and, with the woodpile mobile, it makes it less obtrusive in the shop area.

You apparently have the kit installed that moves the guard towards the hood. Some don't like the excessive distance between the guard and the hood, so Kubota came up with that kit.

I did a compromise by replacing the 14mm guard bolts with slightly smaller 1/2" bolts, then held the guard towards the hood when I tightened them. That still allowed the hood to open while reducing the distance. It also doesn't require going around the tractor to do two things.
Thank you lynnmor I guess there was a line item on the that said tilt hood guard kit.

Finally got the led light pods and beacon installed. Pods are currently wired to the rear ignition switched aux circuit (will add a dedicated switch in the spring). Beacon uses the 12v outlet on the right side of the operator's station. I also added a deflector to the plow blade. Like @NCL4701, we were supposed to get a bunch of snow and it's now fizzled to ~3" with some additional ice.

I put a LED 26" long roof warning light onto the Curtis cab on my BX23S. If we get the snow that is predicted for tonight, I will have a picture of it doing its work. It came with magnets to hold it to the roof, and I replaced those with suction cups.

Looks like tomorrow we will be on the rain side, or close to it.

Well, despite the vague and variable prognostications of meteorologists, we didn’t get 12” of snow and didn’t get 1/2” of frozen rain (thank goodness on the frozen rain). Mostly sleet here so being on top of snow it kind of looks like snow but it’s really about 2” of sleet on 2” of snow. The Kubota sat in its bay ready to clear fallen trees, run the generator, and plow snow. Much as I enjoy running it, I was fine with not needing to fire it up today. Overall it was about as benign as possible.

BTW, for anyone not familiar with significant accumulations of sleet: tossing a snowball at your wife is being playful; chucking a sleetball at your wife is domestic assault and battery.

Wife reminded me of Raleigh's Snowmageddon in 2014, where we should have gotten a "dusting". I knew people that took 9 hours to get home... With a "infamous" photo...
The home office of the company I work for is in Raleigh. Before that they had a tendency to question us every time we closed or delayed a satellite office for bad weather as they’re “always” open. They closed too late and had people that slept in their cars, abandoned their cars and walked home or to a hotel, or took 9 hours to make a 30 minute drive. It was a total cluster. Since then they’ve been much more understanding.

There’s really no telling what we’re getting here. It’s prepare for the worst and hope for the best every time.

I didn't even try to drive home, I left my truck at work (Ok, not a real truck, a Nissan) and walked home (about 3 miles). Got picked up by a friend and after a while, told the friend I needed to get home to let the dog out... and walked the rest of the way. (we were stuck in traffic!!!)

I got home, took care of the dog and shortly afterwards, my friend came to the door... I asked him if traffic cleared up and he said, No, I parked the car and walked.... His wife took 9 hours to make it to our house!?!?

Like a lot of folks, moved some snow. First time this winter. Shy of a foot, not a big deal.

Used new back blade some too. Worked pretty good, and didn’t have much base to work with. Would be better with a better base.

Had to clear 12" of heavy wet snow right as it changed to rain......which sucked.

Had to go really and take half cuts, not because the tractor couldn't handle it per se, but because the snow was so wet it would just pile up in front of the blow if I added too much ground speed I ended up with a growing pile in font of the blower about 6' out in front......

Should be 38 degrees in a couple hours and the rain stopped.....dropping to 16 degrees this evening so I will take another pass at the driveway with the back blade and fire up the Honda tracked blower to do the dog area and access path......
