Need to work on rewiring wiring under the console. But it's been 100f and will be for another week. There are other things I can do for the time being. 😓

Finally showed up, when I remove my buddy's stump grinder from my machine I will install. I don't want to install now and have to deal with PTO shaft extensions for a machine I don't own 😂

Hooked the tiller on for ballast and moved some dirt to fill in some low spots on the lawn.

Did a little bush hogging today.
Mostly heavy grass and tall weeds.
Heavy grass had not been cut in a couple of years.

The weeds were on a vacant corner lot and some were 6’ tall.
Had to go slow because of the thickness and wasn’t familiar with the property.

Lx2610 does a good job of running the rotary cutter.
The Woods BB48x just follows along and cuts everything.
10 years old.

A friend is going to be borrowing the flail mower this weekend and he came by last night to check it out before we headed out to dinner. It was leaving a strip of uncut grass a bit left of center of the cutting head so I figured that a hammer was knackered. When I raised and rotated the head I saw that two hammers were stuck together due to a thick wad of grass and so weren't able to cut. Not sure if this is a common problem or not.

After clearing the grass and making sure that the two hammers were free to rotate I made a couple of short passes to see how it was doing, and all is good ... until the next time. You can see the strip of uncut grass in the photo below more to the right, and the much improved passes more to the left.

Makes me wonder if you didn't have the PTO at 540.

Makes me wonder if you didn't have the PTO at 540.
My friend wanted a "lesson" and he did just that initially and created a big clump of cut grass. He has an L4060 and wasn't used to anything in the MX. But in fairness to him, it was doing it before he tried it. I run it around 540 rpm but I wonder if a bad hammer could cause this to happen.

I was able to listen the flail when my friend was running it and it sure is quiet. The tractor is way louder. Also, there's significantly less shock to the driveline when engaging the PTO compared to a rotary cutter that has a lot more rotating inertia to overcome.

Have been spending this week prepping my land for a "open house" event highlighting prairie/oak savanna habitat restoration. I have guest speakers from US Fish and Wildlife and Central Wisconsin Invasive partners plus self guided tours and a few other activities. If any of the fine folks here that live in Central Wisconsin would like to stop in please PM for more information. The event is July 16th 9:30am to 2pm.

The pictures below are the main parking areas that I have been mowing with the L2501.

Greased the FEL for the first time on the LX tonight @11 hours. Pumped some Li400 through all 12 of the zerk fittings until I saw nothing but Li400 coming out and wiped the old moly/synthetic grease away. Capped off all the zerks with lock n lube's yellow caps.

Will probably hit the 3 underbody fittings tomorrow before I go grind stumps.

Broke out the B3200 and brush cut the barn pad so they can start the prep in the next few weeks. Also cut back around the perimeter of the property. Hot work. Ran out of time. Will finish the trails next week.
