Mostly a tying up loose ends day for the L today. Started by bush hogging the top and ends of the dam, mostly so I could drop the bush hog and do other things before it got stupid hot. Sorry, no pics.
Put the loader back on and ROPs back up. Dropped the bush hog in favor of the trailer mover and got out the wood splitter to finish the last few rounds before covering the most recent wood pile.
Then closed the gate on the driveway from the public road to the old tobacco field / meadow we added about a year ago. The gate is the logs. There’s a culvert there under the log on the ground where there was a driveway that went to a detached garage for a house that’s been gone at least 25 years. I moved them recently to allow access for a contractor to do some work but that’s over, so time to close it off again.
This picture with the logs. Ever take a picture and when you look back at it you see something that makes you wonder how in the world you didn’t see that when you were taking the picture? Well, I sure did with this one. I jumped off the tractor, snapped a pic to maybe post later, hopped back on and didn’t look at the pic until about 12 hours later. That thing by the near end of the log on the ground: I didn’t notice that at all when I was out there. It’s right at the end of the culvert. At first, I thought it was the construction workers at the development across the street letting some packaging blow over to our place (not unheard of). But as I zoom in on it, it looks to me like maybe somebody lost a skid plate there.
Whatever it is, I’ll have to move it so it doesn’t clog up the culvert. If the culvert gets clogged, the water will run across the road, down the embankment and into the back side of the new houses in the development. Hmmm… maybe I’ll just leave it there a little bit longer.
