I spread our several yards of top soil today to cover up the Sandy soil from the bank repair last fall so grass will actually grow and I can mow it. I also graded a bit too to make it look better. I then planted Ninebark shrubs along the bank, hoping they'll help with the erosion and plus they'll look nice and it's a prime location for these shrubs. A sandy rocky soil which they like and well drained so less chance of root rot. I also raked, seeded and spread with straw. Also put mulch around the the shrubs.

It's nice to have some land back. It washed out so bad last year almost where grass and dirt is.

This is what it looked like last fall.

Next on the list is to cut the rest of the that tree stump down. Not sure how I'm gonna do that with an 18 inch bar 🤣

It's coming along..slowly but surely. Little by little. The Kubota has been a huge help for sure. It didn't take long to move 12 yards of top soil. It was great practice for me too learning how to get a full scoop. After several scoops I pretty much can get a full scoop everytime now!

Glad I did this all today and not next week when it's gonna be close to 100f 🥵

I changed the oil in the L3901DT today. The tractor has 628.5 hours on it now. I took the FEL off to make it easier to do the oil change. I also greased the tractor and FEL.

It was in the upper 70's when I took the FEL and in the mid 90's when I put it back on. I had to release some pressure from the line on FEL to get the lines connected back up. That will teach me no to take the FEL off where it will be sitting in the sun.

I think the tractor looks so much different without the loader on. It also needs a bath really bad.

How do you release the pressure on the loader when it's not hooked up?

greased the front end wrong and it snapped a bolt. cost me two new bolts from kubota. idiot tax was only a half day down time and 16$.
Idiot tax!
I hadn't heard that expression before but paid it last year when pressing a new front wheel bearing in my brother's Jeep Latitude. Damaged the magnetic ring so I offered to buy the needed replacement !

Got L6060, KX033 mini ex, and the rented Cat 315 ex going on stumping duty after the winter logging. Brother and son kindly took week off to help. Mud is still an issue but getting better. Pushing stumps off the steep banks where possible; stacking them up otherwise. Making separate piles of "clean" slash for chipping and "dirty" piles for burning. Fixing driveway damaged by logging skidders, digging drainage ditches, building a shack for the diesel tank, moving IBC containers for water, etc. Discovered grapple connectors not compatible with those on the 3rd function setup. Will head to dealer tomorrow. Feels great to finally be making some progress on woodlot. Dirty, tired, sweaty, sunburned and loving it.

OK, I'm going to admit no being able to understand this. Could you explain it to me (and maybe one other person on the planet who also doesn't get it)?

What I do is get a hard wood dowel about 3" long that fits loosely down into the female coupling on the loader hose. Grab the hose coupling with my left hand and smack the dowel with hammer to push down the poppet that the other end of the dowel is sitting on inside the connector. Oil will be released so draping a rag over the end of the dowel and held around the hose with your left hand is a good idea. May not be acceptable to some but works for me. You can also make or buy a tool to do this or remove the coupling with a pair of wrenches.

I made this tool to rinse old oil from a snow plow cylinder, It is a male coupler but shows the idea.

I just loosened one of the hard lines, this will let the pressure off. As g_man showed, you can make a device or you can buy one.
Well it's good to know that if I ever take the loader off to not leave it in the hot sun haha. Wonder if it would be safe to take it off in the garage?

I frequently have that happen with mine. It's stored in a shed. Not a big deal. If the connectors won't go together I use a small piece of hardwood and tap it in the female end of the fitting. I DO hold a few layers of old bath towel over the fitting/wood before striking it with whatever is handy - pliers, small hammer, etc. When the pressure is relieved it produces a brief powerful squirt. Often a second smack is needed to fully relieve the pressure.

Just be extremely careful if you relieve the pressure on the curl lines. That could cause the loader to shift and fall. I learned that the hard way and had to stand the loader back up by hand Once you disconnect it from the tractor, the boom cylinders should equalize. Turn off the tractor and push the stick to float. That dumps both ends of the boom cylinder circuit to tank. The curl cylinders may have a load on them because they are used to tilt the boom when removing or reinstalling the loader. The bucket is magically sized to counter balance the boom on the storage legs. Don’t attempt to remove the loader without the bucket on. I made that stupid mistake exactly ONCE. It’s hard to stand that boom back up and get something under the tractor end by yourself. I recommend leaving the loader on the tractor for any curl cylinder maintenance. Then you can easily relieve the pressure with no mess. I’ve never had an issue reconnecting the hoses on the loader. 3rd function is a different story but not that difficult to remedy.

I cracked a headlight lens on my tractor and just ordered a replacement assembly from the dealer.
My tractor i bought new in 2013. I've never removed the FEL. So I'm very very skeptical about doing it now. It would however allow alot more room to work to get the headlight assembly out and in. If I was a skinny twenty yr old id flex under the hood better. But I'm not.

Hopped on the 1700 at 8 and mowed for 2 hrs. Got the 3200 out and cleaned all the river rock the landscaper dumped on the driveway. Kids forgot the tarp on the first load. That took an hour. Inside cooling down now.

Removing and reinstalling the FEL isn't difficult. I've had mine in and off a lot. I have a snow plow mounted on an extra SSQA plate that is on all Winter. The other three seasons the bucket is on the FEL and it's removed and parked in the shed. The FEL is reinstalled whenever it's needed for a task.

When removing the FEL, I get it all unpinned and back away a bit with only the hoses attached. Then I shut the tractor down and keep moving the joystick till pressure is all equalized. THEN I disconnect the hoses. When reinstalling I stop short of the frame to get good access to the hose connections, hook them up and them drive the rest of the way into the frame.

The LX was on sheep s##t duty. I had two trays of seedlings to transplant so my wife and I went to work. Had about 155 survivors.

It may still have a pressure difference parked in the garage. Like others said above, easy to release the build-up.

Looks like there was a big ball of wool mixed in with the sheep $hit! Hopefully you caught it before it blew over to the neighbor's property like a tumbleweed! 😂
