Ok just went to dealer to get some hydraulic fluid since I checked it today and nun was on the stick . Hoping it was because of the 3rd function add and air trapped and leak when I picked it up which was fixed before I left with it . They added no oil after removing a line and swapping it around to fix the leak . And there's no leaks at all in it . So hope that's the problem . But didn't read what it needed just went to the dealer told them the kind of tractor and they gave me UDT oil . Got home looked at the book and it says UDT-2 oil . So if I add the UDT am I going to be ok . Or should I take it back and get UDT-2 oil . Got 10 hours on it as of now .

Guess its ok after reading further in the book . Does say don't mix but who knows what the dealer I bought it from put in it after they instilled the 3rd function . Since my local dealer said they just use UDT .

Ahh yes the topic of oil is always such a pleasant conversation around here! If it were me I'd stick a fluid in there thats not Kubota and is more affordable. Since Kubota does not produce their own oil why pay their price. Any UDT you purchase will work. BUT I'm sure by the end of tomorrow you'll have atleast a dozen different answers!

Some oil is better then no oil....

Well I like to run what ever the maker put from the factory . As for warranty reason and they designed it to run there oil . Just like my 2012 f350 will only ever have motorcraft oil . I'm a stickler like that . But since the dealer I bought the oil is not the dealer I bought the tractor . I have no real clue it there doing the samething. Dealer I bought oil from said the change the oil and use UDT . The dealer I bought the oil from will be servicing it since there close only 9 miles .the dealer I bought the tractor is 70 miles so there a little out the way . And I'm not sure they even add any had to I'm sure since they put the 3rd function . .

But im sure I will make the dealer here close use the UDT-2 when we do the 50 service . Even if he don't stock it he will have to order it .

But hoping add what ever little bit it needs want hurt it for 40 more hours .

If you want to use what the tractor had in it new then it was SUDT or SUDT-2 fluid. Yes the UDT will work but doesn't have the same performance of the other fluids.

Think I will have any problems running it the next 40 hours tell changing it out . Hoping I only need a little bought two gallons . But hope one will bring it up on the stick .

It will be fine. The topic of oil is waaaaay overdone on tractor forums.

It is like arguing Coke or Pepsi and then someone comes along with a DiteRite point of view. They all pretty much quench your thirst but how it is done and it is the benefits that are variable.

That said, cheap oil will perform as expected - cheaply. But you'll have to convince yourself of that.

The only reason I got it was that's what they said it needed and I believe that's all they had other a 55 gallon drum in the back of another brand and not kubota brand oil .what they used for oil changes .. But UDT ... Needless to say they will be getting some of the UDT-2 for my 50 hour service .

You'll come to find that most dealers only stock the UDT fluid and will almost aways tell you there's no difference in the fluid.

The dealer doesn't want to carry both oils because most people are going to buy the UDT just because it's cheaper.

Using the UDT would hurt anything on your tractor. Now if you drained it all out and refilled it with UDT you might tell a small difference. Come winter you would tell the most and maybe during the summer during really hot weather. Oil debates tend to get ugly at times around here but IMHO you get what you pay for when it comes to lubricants.

I would say read the side of the bottle of Kubota UDT and one that is store bought and make sure they contain the same ingredients. Most of the time they will.
