I have a ‘93 l2650 I got used recently with 1400hrs. I changed the oil and transmission fluid when I got it. I have put about 15hrs on it so far and in the last couple hrs it has been running slower and slower. It started off just slow when starting to move, then it would eventually take off. When i started to notice this I put fuel treatment in the tank. Now it is only moving in turtle 1st and maybe 2nd gear at a crawl on flat ground. It doesn’t sound different and the rpms go up normally when hitting the gas, it just barely moves. Parking brake is off. 2wd and 4wd didn’t change anything. hydraulics seem fine.

So far I have checked the air filter and it is clean. The hose leading to the air filler has good suction.

I changed the fuel filter, it wasnÂ’t to dirty but there were some chunky stuff on the outside of it and bottom on the container. Changing it didnÂ’t do anything.

The fuel I put in was new.

Now what?

Thank you,
James

The hours seem somewhat low for it but your symptoms sound as though the clutch may be slipping. Check the manual for how to adjust it.

What type of transmission fluid did you use? Are you certain it is at the proper level?

How does it perform in reverse?

The consensus is the clutch is not working properly. Hopefully it only needs adjustment, but it may need replaced. First thing to do is check the clutch linkage and see how it is adjusted. Maybe there is some adjustment left.

Are you mechanically inclined? If you are you can replace the clutch without too much expense.

Thanks for the replies.

I know at first the fluid was a little low but only for like an hr or 2 and it was made right with maybe 2 cups worth of fluid. I used kubota brand that the dealer gave me.

It performs the same in reverse. I donÂ’t hear any weird noises or anything.

IÂ’m hoping it isnÂ’t shot, I will give an adjustment tomorrow. The manual says the movements to adjust, I can figure that out, but what am I looking to do? I didnÂ’t find any helpful you tube videos.

You goal is to adjust the rod that moves when you push down on the clutch peddle so it goes down far enough to release the pressure plate from the flywheel so the tractor will stop moving.....when pushed down.

BUT you also need to be able to let off the clutch peddle and that should allow the tractor to move according to the gear it's in....fast, slow or reverse.

If you can't get those two adjustments to work it will mean the clutch disc is probably wore too far and need to be replaced.

The clutch is going. My buddy checked it out and I learned that I may not have been driving it property, carrying heavy loads in the bucket in high and maybe shifting to soon after pressing the clutch in. I’m fairly new to the tractor world as the only other one I drove a decent amount was a JD with an HST. I have been clearing land and moving large oak and maple logs. Not sure if that did it with maybe not driving it 100% correctly in only about 15 hrs or the previous owner was ruff on it too. The clutch has had no free travel in the time I drove it, I didn’t know that was bad.

By buddy mostly works on heavy machinery and wasn’t positive but said just replace it before it gets worse, but could it just be an adjustment and problem solved or don’t mess with it?
