Hello, this is my first post here. My wife and I just purchased my parents old home, they wanted to downsize. I grew up in this house. We have lived in a subdivision for the last 16 years so getting back to having land is very exciting for us. I have a background in running equipment. I work as an electrician now but did run heavy equipment for about 10 years to make a living. We still run equipment, bucket trucks skid loaders, excavators, etc. With all that said we will have 10 acres. Most of it is wooded. There will be about 2.5 acres to mow. Currently this is more of a field not lawn. There is a lawn around the home I will mow with a garden tractor. I have always run John Deere tractors. From my grandfathers farm, my uncles or my dad. With that said I went and looked at them first. I do like the 3r series tractors but don't have the cash for such and overpriced tractor. The John Deere 3e series is so cheap looking I have zero interest in owning one. The Kubota L series is in my price range and has the build quality im looking for. I'm looking to run a 60" finish mower (72" if I could swing it) to mow the 2.5 acres. After that I will be using the loader to move brush, landscape, cut and haul trees and just lend a hand in pushing the woods back a little. I love the fact the l2501 doesn't have the emissions crap on it. Is it enough tractor for what I'm doing? Can it run a 72" finish mower? Thanks for reading my long rambling post.

New l2501 owner here, and I have had great luck with it so far (35 hours). I believe there are guys running 6' rear finish mowers on these. They are only 20hp at the pto, but no one ever seems to talk about torque in these applications. I think the 2501 churns out 70 foot pounds, and it feels like it. It has been a tank for towing and pulling anything you want. This is a de-tuned 100 ci engine. Low RPMs, high torque.

I found when I was trolling for comparable pricing, that is is like comparing a gallon of gas, or milk. There is a national average, but depending on your locations, it can jump up or down a couple thousand. It also depends on how well things are selling for the dealer. It seems the L2501 is an easy sell for dealer because of it popularity, because it's awesome..plenty of good reads on here about why.

Doesn't look too bad price wise. My 2501 was $17,145.00 out the door. But mine is geared, HST added another thousand, and my tires are not loaded.

I would stick with the 60" mower.

I'm happy with mine. Takes care of my 10 acres just fine.

Take a look at tractorhouse.com for some comps.
Have you priced it on the Kubota website?
No matter how good your price is you can always look around. Some members here have ordered tractors online and had them delivered several hundred miles and saved thousands....just saying.
Another thing I would mention is if you use the tractor on a nice yard and do NOT have turf tires you will inevitably make some ruts and tear up the grass. Perhaps spend the money for a lawn machine that you would have spend on the rear finish mower. Two and a half acres for a garden tractor is nothing. Put your money toward implements that will make your tractor work better for you. I have a B2320 with a 60" finish mower and it does work well. But hind sight being 20-20 I would have passed on the mower and put the money towards back hoe..........but that's just my opinion.
Either way you will love the L series...it was a little too large for me.

Get the 72" deck my 2501 runs it with no issues. I can get it to bog is long thick grass 12" high or so. I run mine wid open about 2300 rpms and I go as fast as I can in medium on the hat. When it gets into heavy gras it lugs down to about 1900 buy keeps going.

I bought mine either for similar use and mow about 4 acres ATM with it.

Tractor will be fine for what you want to do. Get the 72" rfm. I run a 72" Land Pride rfm on my B2650, and it handles it no problem. You will really enjoy that setup.

A 72" mower should be no problem for that tracor. I run a 91" finish mower on my B2910 (20 hp PTO) and have no issues. I have about 490 hours on it and the majority of those were running the mower.

We have an L2501 HST. It is used to help maintain a 65 acre tree farm. The tractor has done everything we have needed doing and done it well. It is amazing what you can get done with a tractor.

I use a LandPride RCR60 bushhog. That is a 60". The tractor has no difficulty with it.

I have an L3700SU with a 5' brush hog and cut 3 acres of grass in 1-1/2 hrs. I looked at a new L2501 last year when looking to upgrade from my BX series. I was seriously tempted since with incentives, I could have had a brand new L2501 with FEL and 60" Land Pride brush hog for just under $21K. However I was still concerned about power output at the PTO. I really wanted 30HP at the PTO so I could rent & run bigger attachments. I kept looking used and found a 2010 L3700SU w/300 hrs on it. It came with a 60" Land Pride brush hog, FEL, ratchet rake, and 60" box scraper, all for $17,850. So I saved thousands of $, got 30HP at the PTO, and all of the attachments I needed.

Really nice having 37HP behind it when I push snow on my 3/8 mile long road.

Do you ever get a loud humming sound coming from the center of the tractor when it Boggs down? My L2501 is doing this intermittent at times

The L2501 is a great tractor and will perform extremely well for your planned usage.

I’ve only logged 15 hours on mine but it has exceeded my expectations and has done everything I’ve asked of it.

I have had great luck with my2501. I mainly use it for loader work for sawmill hobby, wish I would have stepped up for more lifting power but that meant more lifting of the wallet. Great tractor!

After four years the OP probably answered his questions ten times over by now...I wish old posts were flagged somehow...only to prevent us from answering a question from someone who likely doesn’t need the answer any more...
