Along this same line, would you operate a 1,500 lb 10-ft land pride tow-behind mower with my 3500-lb 2wd Kubota M5700 if I filled the tires and installed a loader? Plus I'm 250 lbs.. I promise no lawyers.
It has the minimum 52-hp at the PTO. This is in Virginia Piedmont: rolling hills of fescue mostly.
Thanks.

On my 2x4 b1550 the po installed a stack of weight machine plates on the front frame extension for front ballast. I thought it clever and effective. I think it pulls better than my bx2230 in 4x.

The 1,500lbs is on it's own tires right? IF that is the case, it's just tractive force and that's nothing to a M series unit. Those are rated at multi-bottom plows so your tow behind mower should be a walk in the park for it. Tow behinds are self powered, so no biggie at all...

I'd guess the 10' is a pull behind, attached to the draw bar, but not self powered. Tractor PTO supplies power to turn blades.

If you own the mower, hook it up and give it a test run. You can adjust the cutting height to not bog down the tractor if the grass is too thick, or cut less then 10' width after the first pass.

If you haven't bought the mower yet, maybe the owner will let you try it out?

I guess I'm too used to the modern concept of tow behind. I saw a guy mowing with his pickup with a self powered wide wing rig, I'd guess it at about 12'. I thought "Man, mow in comfort! I'd hate to hit anything I didn't see with my nice tires!"

50hp should still be fine for a 10' PTO mower.

Thanks for the replies guys. I own them both. Just got the 10' mower for a great price at auction. The mower runs off pto. Not worried so much about cutting power as about weight. I guess if I'm upright after the first cutting, I made the right choice. Stand by for photos if not.
