Figured I would share some views I saw today. :D was disappointed that the sheep weren't out. But did see some buffalo. The pics don't do the park justice.

Was just enjoying similar scenery, Drumheller Alberta. Canyons, Hoodoos and Valleys. I was amazed, driving along in a baldass prairie, then down a hill and there was a city, in the bottom of a massive ditch. Ears popped going down in and back up.

Nice scenery.

WTH?

The third picture in the previous post... WHAT IN TARNATION IS IT!!!

Looks like a sawn "petrified" tree stump with roots growing out of it and some other "mushroomy" thing growing nearby. That is amazing!!!

Theres no telling what it was. Had to get a close up when I saw it. Sign said there was lots of fossils out there too with hefty fines if you messed with them. They had rocks rounded like bowling balls out there too.

Looking at the picture again, ai think your right. It looks like a large oak stump with a petrified turd on it

I'm so sad you missed the lamb dinner you were hoping for, but I'm glad you're having fun.

Don't forget to take some pics for the one who's addicted to tractor porn!

Wished my wife was with me for this one. She would have loved it. Up here for two weeks for work. Got a day off, so I had to go check it out. :D Also spent $30 on a beer, $20 for a chicken sandwich, and $10 for a can of pop at a casino in Montana yesterday  Been twenty years since I stepped foot in a casino. Remembered why I only went the one time way back when

Wifes currently looking for a camper. We're wanting to do a two week excursion to yellowstone with the grandkiddos. With enough time for detours to check out other stuff on the way up and back :D

Daren, those pictures are scenic, but all I can think about is how it must be in the winter with snow cover, wind blowing and -20F.

D2cat, there's a constant breeze of about 10 to 15mph. Gusts the other day coming back were tossing the truck all over the place. From what everyone has been saying, the winter time is down right miserable here. I bet it would be really sweet views of the park in the winter. But there would be no way I would get out of the vehicle to take pictures :D

Googled it and it's about 6 hours from where I live, not much further than Drumheller, AB which TJ mentioned is similar. Might have to go there.

My Bride and I have an older Bigfoot Truck camper that we have been touring with and it's great!

Montana is a great state, I rode my motorcycle all over it about 4 years ago. Yellowstone is a bit of a tourist trap but I think we have to take the truck camper there via teddy park.

TJ,

It goes without saying, if you and the Mrs. hit any of those Utah/AZ/CO locations in mid Fall or early to late Spring, your fun meter will peg. Much less "peoples" and very good sleeping and hiking weather. Easier on your rig too.

Have fun when the time comes...

This was great timing, I just spent the last week bird hunting (Sharptail Grouse and Hungarian Partridge) in Montana and we drove through the southern unit of Roosevelt Park yesterday on the way home. For about 20 years we hunted similar landscape, although slightly flatter, south of Williston ND. Unfortunately for bird hunters, there have been no rooms available in that area for the last 4 years. To wonder around that type of county chasing bird dogs and birds has been great for grouse hunters form the woods of Michigan.

I only had a chance to check the northern section. Wanted to hit the southern portion since they have more wildlife. But didn'the have the time for the extra 160 miles round trip the day I went  gonna plan a trip with the wife in a year or so to head back there with the grand kiddos :D
