Stump Bucket / Trencher Attachment

I've built a Stump Bucket / Trencher / Spade and I need some help. I'm 700 miles from my tractor, a L3901 with 525 FEL.

I had a piece of 1/2" thick 8" x 8" "H" beam...and my cutting ability is better than my welding ability.

So, it is the beam, pointed and slotted for the front end loader. I like that the piece under the loader is long as I think it will protect the bucket. The square slot on the left end is for a chain to attach to tractor. I designed it to hang below the bucket, hopefully so I can see it a little better

If this works, it will have cost me the electric for the plasma cutter, a few hairs on my head I caught fire and some paint.

Buddy, looks at it and says the slot for the FL isn't wide enough...my slot is 5/8". Anyone know how thick the cutting edge on a kubota FL model L525 is?

If I'm too wide I can jam a piece of plate inside the bucket. If I'm too tight...I'll have to cuss some.

It's done, except maybe the slot. It goes to the farm Thursday morning, either way. I have a day to widen slot if necessary.

I don't want to pooh-pooh your idea, but use it with caution, I've seen a lot of bent bucket bottoms, and just from clamp on pallet forks...

Thanks...that's why I'm trying the long arm underneath, to spread the brace.

I plan to try it trenching first, so I can control the cut depth.

Might want to attach a chain on the beam web at about the end of the bucket and run it up to a couple of hooks at the top of your bucket. It's give a lot of support and protect your bucket. Chain won't impede dirt movement up beam.

I said I'd come back with pics.

So, I did have to widen slots a little, the edge of a Kubota Bucket is a hair more than 3/4" thick.

I used a chain from bottom of new addition up back side and down to other side to hold it on when titled down.

Worked like a champ! Took me about four hours to dig 60 foot of 24" deep trench for electric line. Most of that was deciding best way to do it.

Best route ended up being...jab it in forward, lift to loosen dirt, raise bucket and drag it backwards in float to remove dirt!

Small bites were easy. I probably only loosened about two cubic feet per jab.

I'll get another pic of it on the tractor when painted.
