Studding tires for winter

I looked at a lot of different options for studding tires and came up with a simple solution! They sell studs for off road racing that are just hardened screws and they work really well, but they are really pricey. So I came up with a cheaper alterative, 3/8" x 1 1/2" Tapcon concrete screws, they bite really well into the rubber and they are hardened and have tall heads on them.
Oh and you can only do this if your front tires are foam filled!

When I got the tractor it had a few screws in it for traction but I wanted a better setup!
Old wimpy setup!


Not much bite here.


Being a perfectionist I had to lay them all out, couldn't just start zipping screws in all willy nilly!

Did you do the back ones too or just the front?

I wanted to do the rears but the tread is just too shallow to be safe to stud.
I find a set of chains for the rears for real cheap, but I can't use them till I get a set of wheel spaces to get them away from the insides of the fenders, I have plenty of clearance from the top to the fenders.
