Here's a photo of my M7040 baling Wheat straw with my JD 347 baler. A 30 ft combine header makes for a BIG windrow and sq bales close together!!!

Looks like lots of sore blistered hands after handling that many bales.

We had wheat planted for silage and couldn't get in the field because it was to wet. Ended up cutting it green and cured it for hay. Rolled almost 500 rolls and the cows must think it's candy. I set a roll one lot where I have heifers and they don't leave the bale for anything but water until it's gone.

It beats all I ever saw Eric. I have 10 heifers in that lot all just under a year old. They will eat a entire bale down to where you can just barely tell there was anything there in a day and a half. Honestly, 24 hrs after a bale goes in it's nothing but a small pile and the next half day they pick up the small pieces that are left until it's gone.

Come winter time they may turn their nose up at regular hay now.

He wasn't so far away I would be making a trip down for a couple of those bales, getting straw around here is hard, I mean like really hard,, We use the straw for growing potatoes,, lay them o nthe ground and roll the straw out over top of em and they grow right pretty

Wheat straw in small bales I can get easy . There only 1.50 a bale around here . There only used for erosion control here since nothing will eat it .

What size are those bales?

Just curious, what do you use big bales of straw for? Nobody in my area has big balers like that so I know nothing about them.
4'X4'X8' The bales are not mine but I know they are contracted to the Campbells mushroom growing plant that's 30 miles south of me.

Around here we bale a lot of Straw in Big Squares, use it to feed dry cows and heifers as roughage in the TMR. alot cheaper than timothy or orchard grass. and with the pre-mix and DDG's we can get better feed quality for less cost.
