The shoes that came with my BX2816 are mounted on the reward ward side of the blower, and I had to replace them on a friend's identical snowblower after 2 seasons of blowing snow. The cutting edge at the rear of the blower was also severely worn. The snowblower that I previously had (BX2750) on my BX22 seemed to be a lot better, and I only had to replace the cutting edge and rear shoes on that after about 8 seasons of blowing snow. I can see that Kubota made some changes to the BX2816 such as moving the shoes from the rear of the blower to the rear side. I am not certain if they are for the better or worse. What is your experience with these snowblowers and are there better shoes available? Does anyone have any experience with the BX2817 hard plastic shoes and cutting edge? My goal is not to be having to replace parts every other year.

Shoes are a designed to wear out, get you back into the store, take more money out of your pocket and into theirs !
New ones are made from cheaper ,thinner ,low quality steel not that much different than fenders on cars today...use once, buy another philosophy.

Are you getting into gravel or hard pavement regularly? I am a bit surprised they wear out with such a light tractor.

'light tractor' really has nothing to do with wear of the shoes. Weight of the snowblower, surface area of the shoes, material of the shoes, 'road' surface material, temperature are the major factors for calculating wear.

DR - - not sure if helpful.

There's a couple mods I did, plus a couple others.

In the linked thread, OCC455 put Mahindra shoes on his blower.

How does this reply answer the OP’s question?

it tells WHY the shoes wear out and what to look for in replacing them.
Obviously do NOT buy replacements from the OEM, instead locate a source for high quality shoes.
I won't say 'buy this brand or that', that decision is his. Unless the shoe seller discloses the type of steel used in their shoes, I can't say how long they'll last. I do have some samples of steel here from USA tank armour. I know it's damn tough

I make new wear shoes for my JD blower out of old spring leaves, they last for several years of use.
