Hi all,
I just took delivery of an L2900 GST. From the SN, I'm thinking it was built in '98 or '99. It was little used for the last 10 years and has about 1200 hours on it.

It's in good shape and runs well, but I'd like to set my own baseline for maintenance and repairs, so I'm having it trailered to a Kubota dealership that's just a few miles away.

I know it needs a new air filter and fan belt, but I wonder if there are other things you'd have a mechanic check while it's in the shop. I don't want to pay for delivery fees or on-site mechanics any more than I have to, so I'd rather pay early for maintenance than wait until things go south.

This is my first tractor, and I'll learn how to do some of the routine maintenance myself, but for now, I'd like a certified mechanic to check it over and possibly head off future problems.

What would you ask them to check? Thanks for any tips, ideas, etc.

I would just ask the service manager to perform a full inspection of the machine. Then have them write an estimate of the results found.

If you plan on doing your own maintenance I would do it all as soon as possible so you know what's been done moving forward. Then write down the hours and keep your own records for next time.

Almost 20 years old, so anything rubber including tires and coolant hoses need checking out.

Any hydraulic hoses.

With that model I would do a full fluid and filter change, use only SUDT2 fluid in it.

Agree with Wolfman. I'd also make sure they flush the cooling system and to me just because of the age I'd replace the hoses as well.

Do it all, do it right and chances are you'll be trouble free for years to come.

Thank you all for your replies.

I'll have the Kubota mechanics give it a thorough going-over and do all the fluids.

Preventing problems is a lot cheaper than solving them!
