Has anyone used a rusty metal pre-treatment called Rass-O-Nil on their tractor engines?

I don't have the time or energy to do a complete strip down and paint of my B7100 right now. Yes, I am envious of those that have made their B6000 & B7100 look like new again. The block is starting to look very rusted and shabby. Was hoping to do some type of quick rust conversion and rattle can coverup to keep further rust at bay.

What products have you used that worked out well for you?

I've never heard of Rass-O-Nil, but I have used POR-15 with great results. But, I haven't used it in a high heat situation, so I don't know how well it will perform.

Sorry.......there will be no splash-n-dash solution.

None of the rust conversions will work on greasy/oily surfaces. Degreasing will be the bigger part of the job and you'll need to strip it down anyway.

I bead blasted mine.

I've used one or two rust paint over solutions but had to wire brush 1st and then clean before painting. It does not leave a smooth brush less mark surface. The more prep you do the better the finished product will look. Frank

We use PO-15 on our truck fleet and we have not found anything on the market that is better. I believe if you check their site they make 2 solutions for stripping. It is pricey but you will never have to do it again. It's all in the prep.

If it's rusty, it's probably not oily. POR-15 is expensive, but works wonders.

BTW, there's no such thing as "just a little now until I get around to doing it right" around my shop. If I do a halfway job, that's the way it will stay forever. Might as well go ahead and do a good job the first time.

I have used a solution called OSPHO. I am currently redoing an older one row tree planter that sat out in the pines for 20 years. I plan on selling the planter.Sprucing it up by taking off the rust and matching the original paint color will make the sale easier and bring a few more bucks for the unit.
