Probably a silly question, but I will feel more confident knowing your opinion.

To run an implement on the PTO at 540 RPM, the engine should be turning around 2200 RPM?

Does this seem reasonable?

There should be a mark on your TACH that indicates 540RPM for your PTO. For DT models the RPM is generally slightly lower than for HST models.

My goodness, there is something there, just a little less than 2500. It says "PTO-1-540". That must be it.

For a snowblower would you suggest that i run it at that RPM?

I run my L3450 in the 1000RPM range for my blower and run it a 1/3 throttle.
Blows better and I can bump it up when I need to chuck snow a little further.
It really depends on how well your snow blower is built, mine is very solid and can take it.

Thanks for the advice. We had our first snowfall this morning, not enough to try out the blower, darn.

Soon I'll be cursing the snow.

Thanks.
