Hi.

I purchased a Kubota B6000 4WD and need to repair the front light socket and wiring (2 x 12V 15W lamps). Battery is 12V 45Ah. While at it, I thought why not add rear lights. There are several LED lights on sale, like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-18W-LE...ash=item43ce2aa1ad:g:AoAAAOSwFqJWoeyj&vxp=mtr

In total that would be 2 x 15W + 2 x 18 W = 66 W. However, I am not sure if this would not damage the battery, alternator or other parts.

Any advice is welcome.

It looks like the B6000 has a 25amp dynamo, so that should be 320 watts maxed out. There is something about the early Kubota dynamo that escapes me at the moment... It may be that they only produce the rated power at high rpm, and very little at idle. Regardless, I don't think you will have a problem with adding the rear lights.

Thanks for the link to the good price LED pods!
In my experience, keep an eye on the cheaper products. A tiny 3 Watt LED will get very hot very quick, and sometimes the circuit boards aren't well thermally-bonded to the housing, and the heat will melt the solder joints, causing LED outages.
I'm hoping to do this to my ROPS soon, because it's quickly heading toward winter and I want to have lots of light when I'm working around dusk. :)

RJCorazza, many thanks for pointing out that to me. I will try to find information about that.

my b6000 had a switch wired in from the previous owner for a back light, he did it the right way with fuses and relays(i think thats what its called), and i have a 55w flood light hooked up to it and it works awesome. Never had a problem

Hi mdb6000

many thanks. Please, how goes the wiring that goes to the rear of the tractor? The previous owner passed the wiring through a protection tube?

Since you have to repair/replace the headlights, why not go LED there too? The total current draw of 3 or 4 LED lights could be less than the draw of the 2 original incandescents.

What is the lamp type and wattage of the headlights? I am a big LED fan and this would be one of the first "tweaks" I might be interested in doing.
