Must be the neighbor hood, or how driven, or location. I have an '01 with no rust at all.Question is why is he selling it? Too big, too little, nothing to tow any more, can't afford the fuel, buys new every 5 years (had an uncle that did that)? Or is he having issues?
Every vehicle sold may or may not have issues, luck of the draw sometimes even with highly rated ones.
If you trust him, it's a good price, and you need one then jump on it.
Did they ever solve the rust problem? My son had a 1978 1500 that pretty much fell part before your eyes from the rust. But living in NY they use salt like there's no tomorrow.
I believe that rear coil springs are only found on half ton models, not 3/4 ton trucks. Not much from me, but you can search the internet and find the list of know common issues.
Off the top of my head, if it has coils in rear, that limits rear stability with a heavy load. The transmissions aren't the most durable out there, but that is probably affected by what you plan to do with the truck.
No, they have 3/4 ton models with coils. I only know because people on the truck camper forum complained about how bad they were for truck campers.I believe that rear coil springs are only found on half ton models, not 3/4 ton trucks.
3/4 ton Rams do come with coil springs.I believe that rear coil springs are only found on half ton models, not 3/4 ton trucks.
I stand corrected. My older 2500 came with leaf springs in the rear.3/4 ton Rams do come with coil springs.
Like I replied; I stand corrected. But even my leaf springs weren’t adequate for my old truck camper. I had to add an extra leaf and air bags for my old truck camper. I decided that a travel trailer was far more efficient than a truck camper and sold it anyway. I would never have another truck camper on anything except a dual rear wheel one ton truck. No, they have 3/4 ton models with coils. They could have stopped putting coils on. I have no idea.
Have a friend that has five of them for ranch pickups. They went from diesels to the 6.4 gas probably been close to a dozen years ago when they came our in the 2500 and 3500 trucks. They run flat bed, bale beds on them and have had good luck with them pulling stock trailers and hay trailers. They like gas.My cousin wants to sell me a 2021 ram 2500 hd 6.4, any experience out there?
They’re good trucks. Don’t get swayed (pardon the pun) about what kind of springs. The coil springs ride better… the leaf springs don’t…. but they’re both documented for what they do.My cousin wants to sell me a 2021 ram 2500 hd 6.4, any experience out there?
