R420 problems

I have an older (2000) R-420. It won't move forward or reverse. After some period of time, it will magically go back to work. It will work for a month and then quit. Everything electrical checks good when it's down. What can I be missing?

Doesn't that 420 have to do with something besides an electrical problem? However, you are onto something when you know at some point it will magically work!

I don't think that it's "420-ing" but I can't rule out magic mushrooms
