Where can I find R1 tires for R4 sized rims on a L 2501? I wanted the R4's for the width and tractor height but they are totally useless in wet ground.

Any ag dealer will have them. So does tires online. I prefer R1's not only for the traction but for the chassis clearance when farming. You need to decide between radials and bias. I run bias myself.

You won't, you will need to change both the tires and the rims.
The R4 rims are wider and smaller diameter than the R1 rims.

You would be much better off doing a swap with Rdrett.

You'll want to deal with a dealer or a tractor tire place anyway because changing tractor tires is a job that is difficult and needs special equipment to do without busting one's butt.

I've broke down a few in my younger days. I would not attempt it now.

Now come on Flip, you can handle breaking down a 11.2x24 tire!!

Besides those two guys need to meet up and trade tires and wheels and head back home. Just block up each tractor for a bit and head out. Simple, easy and inexpensive.

I think they need to compare their local bourbons too. I mean a Tennessee and Kentucky hodown tire swap, right?

Makes sens to me, exchanging tires and rims. Makes no sense to me breaking down tractor tires anymore. Car and truck tires, no issue. I have a Coats1010 machine in the shop for that and a balancer too.

Thought about investing in one of those air powered bead breakers but I can get the tire guy to come out a lot of times for what one costs.

Your comment reminded me, I get to buy a new set of front R1's for the M9. It gets the most road miles and pavement is hard on ag tires.

Tough getting old....

Thanks for the responses- Rdrett I appreciate the offer ,I just want to remain low and wider with the tractor stance.Whole goods has the set for around $1500 with freight and I have thought about it ,but it does make the tractor higher and I'm afraid less stable on hillsides (that's all we have around here).I have some tire dealers searching but they say it's like looking for a unicorn.I guess I'll just leave it parked in the rain for now, lol.

Dunbar, In my neck of the woods we have moonshine distilleries popping up everywhere. No going up in the hollers anymore unless you want the real stuff.

No problem.
I forgot that my wheel weighs about adjustable stabilizers won’t work with r4 tires anyway.
I have hills around here that I am afraid r4s will not get me up and down the hill safely wet or dry.
I am still undecided on if I should get r4s but I am sure if I decide too I won’t have a problem trading someone else if I use my wheel weights and stabilizers to sweeten the pot.

But r1 rims are 2 piece and are adjustable. I have mine adjusted to the widest width possible which is 62 inches wide. What is your width with r4’s?

I have hills around here that I am afraid r4’s won’t get me up and down the hill safely wet or dry. Straight up.

I love the r1s but the will eat up the ground. Not something you want to drive on a lawn with.

My R4's measure 58 1/2" wide ,roughly -with 13" of tread on the ground per side with a drawbar height of 13" off the ground. As far as doing hills(up down and sideways), they are doing fine,as long as it's dry-just a note I am always in 4wheel pull

That is very little difference in height. I think I measured right ,it was dark out.You are right about the yard. The r4 do very little damage if any and mine are loaded with methanol and 15 psi air.

Yea. My tires are loaded and I have 3 sets of wheel weights which is almost 400 pounds alone.
The only reason I was considering r4’s was to prevent turf damage on side jobs.
On my land I don’t care about the turf damage but when I work on other people property I feel bad about chewing up their yard.
