Hi Orange people
I am a complete novice to tractors of any type and have just bought a B7001, so I hope you will forgive any silly questions I may ask.

I have a Del morino mowing attachment and I can't get it to work. I know how to attach it but can anyone tell me if the attachment is not attached and the tractor is running, in gear with the PTO engaged, should the little round thingy (no idea what its called) at the back of my tractor spin round and if so, what could be the reason for it not moving. BTW this is the part that the mowing attachment gets connected to to make the blades go round.

Many thanks in anticipation.

It is called the PTO shaft and yes it should turn in the condition you described. One of the local experts will be along shortly with a possible diagnosis.

Are you sitting in the seat when you try to get the PTO on? Some Kubota's have a safety switch under the seat. Try tilting the seat forward and turning the PTO on. If that doesn't work, the switch may be bad. I removed my switch and spliced the wires together. Not exactly the right thing to do, but I don't plan on ever selling it.

Are you pushing the handle on the left FORWARD or BACKWARDS? Not sure on the 7001 - put most would engage one way for under pto and another for rear pto.

First of all, thank you for your quick replies.

The pto lever on the B7001 has 3 settings and it isn't a problem to engage the pto gear. Pulling the gear all the way back is 1st and then forward for 2nd. It has been working but stopped. I wondered if it was the attachment not engaged properly or the pto shaft on the tractor but as you've said that it should work even without the attachment if the pto is in gear and the normal gear is also in gear and engine revved, then the fault is with the tractor. It looks like I'll have to take it back to the dealer, I just didn't want to look an idiot and have them say, did you press this or flick that or whatever.

Oh yeah, sorry I forgot to say I am sitting on the seat with someone else looking at the pto shaft to see if it is going round

Depending on the machine, some pto shields do not turn. On these machines there is usually a light weight chain that keeps the plastic shield from turning,

No, this isn't the shield, this is the actual pto shaft, it looks like a little round wheel set in the back of the tractor. Without any attachment on the tractor, I'm assuming, by the 1st answer, that when all gears are engaged that this should be turning round.
