Post on water pump

I snapped a nut off the the 1/4 threaded post when replacing water pump on l2050. Can I use tractor and see if it leaks or should I take care of this now

You will probably have a leak and could overheat the engine if not monitored for temperature.

I would replace it now since you probably still have access to it (from replacing the pump).
