That's where I worked! I lived in Cabot on 3-1/4 acres. The address was 385 Southwood Circle. I had a friend up near Searcy and I liked the area a lot more than Cabot. Hot Springs was cool too.
I hit the first cabot exit heading home. That's as much of cabot as I want to see on a daily basis 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 way..... to crowded.

I got 6 acres 15 minutes north west of cabot in Vilonia. The only neighbors I can see are the herd of cattle across the road 😁😁😁😁

These guys were out watching the eclipse. Started to get a little dark…they disappeared. Sun reappeared and so did they!

Have spent a lot of time out in that area, kind of south of remington. Had some hunting ground out there. From the tree stand I could just barely see remington. Swampy back in there, and snakes were around. Never bothered me much, but I usually leave all animals be as long as they leave me alone.

Today's shenanigans. GF owns about 80 acres alongside the sylamore creek in North Arkansas. Some of the prettiest places in the entire state out there. Her and I went by ourselves since her dad didn't want to, and my mom was tied down by her dogs. We didn't take the polaris this time-but had to ford the creek in the truck. Wasn't too much trouble, little rough riding being a 3/4 ton. Interesting experience, being we were in the path of a solar eclipse. I did a makeshift time-lapse video by putting the phone on the bed rail of the truck held up by a couple fossilized rocks I grabbed out of the creek. If I can figure it out, I'll post it.

Hot Springs, there's something odd about the entire area. I can't put my finger on it. Too many people just disappear. Geologically beautiful out there though, especially North and westward.

Cabot has grown so much that it's unrecognizable. A lot of that has to do with military. Lots of guys wanted out of the LR metro (including Jacksonville) and Cabot "was" small and quaint. I drove through/around town about a year ago. I couldn't live there. Unrecognizable as "small cabot" now. Nothing but houses and businesses everywhere, til you get more towards Beebe and Eastward to Lonoke. I have friends that life kinda in between and everything's being built up around them where it was once farmland. Exactly like Conway used to be, small, and fun little town--but growth has changed that. I moved out, now that growth is happening out here too. I want to just quit and move to her land, but without much place to work, that option is not on the table yet. But believe me, I'm "working" on it.

I'm sure it's not politically correct to say the eclipse was disappointing here. We were 95/97% eclipse. It cooled off some but still lots of sunshine. Nowhere near dark. He's my buddy that stopped by when the eclipse was at most here.

I would not consider this a photo shoot but not sure where else to post…look just beyond the gloved finger. That’s the first one of the season that I have found (yesterday when going to inspect the hive…best I could do in gear and gloves😂). 🥃

Yeppers…there was a micro sized one under the leaf by the glove too. I walked the woods with the GSD today, but we did not find any…so I think maybe just getting ready to start popping…more than an inch of rain in forecast next few days so maybe next week will be better. 🥃

A small group of 20 or so elk sniffing around the house this morning. There are at least three bulls in the group.

Just a phone shot. I don't know what kind of tree this is, it was here when we purchased the house last year. iirc it stays like this bloomed state only a few days.

I found my 1st morel of the season. It was too bad the pasture fire found it before I did. It is kind of dry now. A little rain & warmth, would get them going.

Oh my…looks like there was insufficient butter/flour/breading in the pasture before you started the fire. 🤪

I think it’s just about to get serious here…I have may apples just now popping out and usually they are opened up when we start to see the morels….still a little early…normally turkey season is in here when start finding them (which is end of the month here)…still early. I normally have chanterelles at our place up north but it ll be a little longer (few more months) till we would see them.

Beautiful day yesterday. BIL needed some seat time too. Snapped pic of his L4740 mowing while I was out spraying at our place.

My pasture burn ignited this tree, which almost disappeared by morning.

Did you want that tree to disappear? I love how that awesome orange tractor just pops in that apocalyptic setting.
The tree was mostly dead & close to a fence. The fence will be replaced this year, so I would have removed the tree at some point. I was not disappointed that it was gone.
I’m guessing the woodpeckers will be unhappy.

Yeah, I didn’t realize how well the orange stood out, until I reviewed the pic later. If we can get a little rain, everything will green up & the orange will stand out against that more desirable setting. I may take another pic at that time.

Not really a photo shoot, but it’s not ‘what’s cooking’ yet😉, so I’ll leave it here. It’s not much but it’s enough of both to throw on top of a pizza if I can get a commitment from a pig(bacon).

It was a beautiful day yesterday, so a friend and I drove out to a ghost town, stopped in Missoula for lunch, and then took the dogs to the south end of Flathead Lake. My Heeler isn't much of a swimmer, but her lab mix is like a freakin' otter! :giggle:

It's supposed to cool off this coming week back to "normal" temperatures, but the weather yesterday had me thinking about getting the boat out of storage.

Herd of wild mustangs scattered across Stone Cabin Valley, Nevada. Try counting them all...and then look at the "grass" they graze:
