Looking to put a fan on the Tractor to help keep me cool and keep the bugs off me during bug season. Thinking of squeezing a small electric radiator fan that is rated at 800CFM to the underside of the canopy I am building that would blow straight down and maybe even 'twist' to the rear a little for when I'm using the backhoe.

Thoughts or suggestions?

What have you done?

This is a ROPS B2650.

Not worried about power as I have a new 35 amp alternator on the way.

I wonder how loud it might be...

Have to admit that's where I got the idea from using a radiator fan instead of a 'regular' fan. What I don't like about that setup though is it pulls from the top. I'm looking to keep the canopy top solid and some protection from debris as we use the tractor to help clean things up 'overhead'. As far as noise goes, I can't see it being louder than the tractor itself and I wear noise protection so....

Check NewEgg or one of the other online tech retailers for 12V PC cooling fans. You should be able to find a matching rheostat to control the speed. PC fans are very quiet and produce a lot of airflow. I wanted to install a ceiling fan in our living room to circulate the hot as air from our fireplace insert. Unfortunately, the mounting was too complicated so I settled on a 12V PC fan which works great.

hmm, that cooltop MUST be expensive, no prices on website ! Went to specs... it draws 11 AMPS !! Yeesh, 132 watts of energy is a LOT..so probably a 15 amp circuit !! Poor alternator will be used all the time.

A couple of 4 3/4" fans, mtd in the top corners should be fine. I had ONE in the Gleaner A cab and it worked very, very well. Only use 2-3 amps.

It's only money and Kubota is offering 0 percent as usual.... If course you could buy used. Ag Direct will be happy to finance you if, you have good credit. If not, rob the piggy bank.

I'd say in lieu off all that, look at low amp draw large size computer cooling fans (on flea bay). They move a lot if air, are not expensive and have very low amp draw.

The fan I'm looking at only uses 6 amps and even with the LED lights I'm adding, I should have excess power left. You guys do have me pondering other fan ideas though.

As far as a Cab, that would more than likely cost more than just the $5k as the tractor is being used to help clean up a heavily wooded area and as careful as one may be, I'm sure we'd loose a window or two before we are done. The heat and A/C are nice, but when it's hot enough to need it, we call it quits for the day and in the winter time for moving snow around, that's what the RTV-X1100C is for.

I installed one of these:

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00065JM8U

It's hanging from the front right corner of my cab. I cut the plug off and wired it direct to my aux fuse panel. Point it at myself for a breeze in summer, point it at the windshield to defrost it in winter. Comes with 2 speed (low/off/high) switch. Mounts with 3 screws.

Looks just like the fan I put in the home brew cab on the L3200. Worked great.

Woods and cabs don't mix well. Tried to tell the guy who owns the ground next to ours up north that bought a JD with a cab that he'd have issues. Sure enough he did and right away. Tore the roof about off the first day...

Least he didn't break any glass. Had a nice hole in the roof though.

Not sure if he still has it. Hopefully he traded it for an open station.

I had one follow me, once I got off the tractor, I went inside and the deer came to the tractor and "checked" it out. Sniffed and licked it... :p

How did it taste? Did hair stick to your tongue?

I get that all the time when I'm running hay but it's usually yotes. I carry a Ruger Ranch Rifle in 223 behind the seat and I've used quite often. The steady sound of the tractor overcomes their fear I guess and then they become curious and then I pop them. Never had an adult deer but I have run a few fawns through the disc bine. They lay down in the forage and I cannot see them until the last second and there is no stopping the machine so it' eats them.

Interestingly however is they are never there when I go back to rake. I guess the yotes eat them. Survival if the fittest.
