I've been showing some love to my old L1500DT
I got a new propshft for the front-wheel-drive made, the old one was too far gone.
I found a local company that claimed they could do it, but it took 10 days and it;s not exactly a 1-for-1 match, but It should do the job.
It's not splittable, so I'll need to figure out an inventive way to fit it.

I also got new hydraulic lines made up.
Here's some pics of the old and the new!

Kenny, how about cutting the new drive shaft into two pieces and find a solid round stock ( or have the machine shop turn one down) to fit inside. Go into each half 4-5" and drill a hole at both ends of the inside piece to put a roll pin or such.

That's a great idea. I like that. The roll pins would also make a suitable place for it to fail gracefully, if ever needed.

You could loosen the front axle/front frame, & then move it forward enough to install the shaft.
More labor, but no modifications or fab work.

The one thing that really bothers me is the lack of a slip fitting on the one end, That's the reason why the shaft has one long end (before the Joint).
This slip fitting allows the shaft to slide in and out on the male shaft to make up for the tilting of the front axle, without that slip it's possible that it's going to come off the shaft.

Just curious, why would anyone lay new hydraulic hoses, with no caps, in the dirt?

Yes,…and the U-joint at the left end is improperly spaced.

Well, I can't really recommend the company that made this shaft. Despite promising me 'same day' or next day at the latest, it took them 10 days to make that. Not exactly like-for-like.

The 10 days is the least of your problems. That shaft isn't right. You should have refused to accept it.

Yeah you're right. It's going back where it came from. So, now I'm pretty much back to square one, with very few options. I might just have to source parts and build one from scratch.

They really just need to cut off the long end and reweld it on then shorted the shaft and you'll be good to go.

Just blow out / wash out the lines before install and you'll be fine!

Thanks! I blew out the lines with my compressor before fitting them.
I looked back at your worn internal splines on the long end of the shaft, you could (if not too expensive) get 2 more of the short ends weld them together to make the long slip end of that shaft.
