out of round tire?

Do tires develop flat spots or become out of round over time? I have an L3800 HST with R4 tires and recently had an occasion to drive it a short way down a road. In high and decent RPMs I noted a definite wobble and notice the right side rear tire seems like it is not rotating true.

Could this have been like this from the factory? The dealer added fluid weight to the tires when I bought it a year and a half ago, but never noticed any wobble driving on the farm as the ground is never really flat.

Any thoughts?

Check to see if the tire is properly filled. If some of the fluid has leaked out, at speed, it will wobble. I have never had an R4 tire go out of round.

It's normal for tires to get flat spots from sitting. You can't tell on the dirt but as soon as it's put on the road you can tell. R 1's, R 4's, even the tires on my old Cat 980 H loader would have flat spots. Nothing to worry about unless you can see a knot or bulge on the tire, then you have big problems to deal with.

Thanks guys. If it was just a flat spot from sitting, I would have thought both tires would have been affected.

Maybe I'll jack up one side and see if it is the tire, rim or axle. Should be an open diff in the rear right?

Jack up both sides. Use safety stands or blocking if you plan on running it. Check your tire pressures as well. I have seen where a tire isnt properly seated and will wobble.

If the tires are filled the liquid creates a sloshing effect noticable on smooth surfaces that can feel like the tires are out of round. I know mine does.

My B2620 does the same thing on the road. No liquid in tires, but I just figured the tires are a little out of round. Mine has done it since new. HJT
