This morning making coffee and I hear a loud crack,, WTF was that? It sounded like something hit the house, I looked out side and at the walls inside, just in case there was a errant flying object intercepting with the wall. Nope nothing, then I noticed the cell phone, the back of the case is laying onthe floor the battery is laying on the night stand and Im thinking something dont look right. Well the battery popped blew the back off and was laying there, so I pick it ,it wont go back in,,, hummmmmm I really dont need this. But I scooped it up and figured I would stop at the VERIZON store and get it taken care of after the Doc visit ,, yeah its a flip phone I dont use it for any thing but phone calls in and out. So this young fella looks up and asks what do you want, like I am interrupting his morning prayers or something. SO I show him and right off he says you need a new phone, nothing more just you need to buy a new phone. Well is there anything you can do? I said you need to buy a new phone! I said just look and see if you can do anything with this,, he gets up and walks to the door and holds it open and say have a nice day. 50 years ago one of us would have been headed to the ER. And they wonder why I hate dealing with people,,, OH and verizon 800 number was no help either. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Sad tale for sure.

I am in my 60's and can still operate a mini computer phone. It has more capability than I can figure out, and is 100x better than any computer used by NASA for the Apollo space missions. Lol. I am posting on this forum right now with my Samsung. It tracks my movements if I allow it OR NOT. It tells me about too much and tells me if my home is broken into... with video...

That being said, new phone dealers like the big wazoo phones cuz there is more profit. And comission. And phones are throw away items like underwear.

I would buy a cheap phone if you can find it and expect cheap help.

Few people (if any) fix old phones. Especially flip phones. It's all throw away trash because you can buy a new cheap phone for a few hundy or pay repair labor fees at hundreds an hour.

It's my good fortune that #2 Son is a techy kinda guy. He's a network analyst for a college and "needs" to have the latest stuff. I'm fine with his hand-me-downs. At present that's a Motorola. When he isn't knee deep in computer stuff that I'll never grasp, he does stuff like rebuild the trans for his Cherokee. He knows how to use tools and find the information he needs.

Looks like you can get a flip phone, that works with your Verizon sim card, today at Walmart for $40.

You can buy batteries on eBay or Amazon for little money, some brands of phones may have a video on how to replace it.

I've heard the flip phone is making a come back. So someone needs to give the verzion kid a customer service class.
I love my giant Samsung phone. But one update ago they added the AI BS that I've been trying to avoid.
Verizon has actual stores. And satellite stores not actually owned by Verizon. Somehow my girlfriend figured this out. If you have issues or want to buy. Make sure it's a real Verizon store. The results are much better.
Verizon has a plan called prepay that they don't promote it's $35. A phone. Unlimited everything. Here in Maine it's $37. With tax. It charges your credit card $37. Each month. My girlfriend has helped several friends drop a $120. A month plan and switch to the prepay plan. She calls the customer service number and gets them switched. A very good deal if you own your phone.

I have Mint Mobile. $15/ month paid annually. Runs 5G and switches to 4G if limit is reached. Can't tell difference. Good service.

Wifey does TracFone and loves it. She buys cheap phones on HSN or somewhere that gets triple minutes for life.

I don't have either cell phone nor smart phone, have ZERO real need for either. been retired for 35+ years and at 72, if you want me...come to my garage or send an email. I spent 1/3rd of my life designing tech like 'smart' devices, at the chip level using machine code,so have no desire to be tied to it anymore

Take the phone to a battery plus type store and they can replace the battery.

The battery has probably swelled and luckily not caused any fire damage.

I agree, you should be able to get a new battery. We're old school. Still got a landline for all phone calls, and a TracFone for texts and on the road, emergency calls and I like it like that.

Seems like yer just looking for sympathy for your stuck in the mud ways.

I'm not saying you need to get super high tech, But you can get a a reliable modern phone from various companies for a reasonable plan. If all you want is phone service, That is VERY cheap.

pissing and moaning about your old flip phone is rather silly.

Our franchised store in incredible, I haven't had to pay for any of my phones for several years, there is always specials that they promote.
We don't have cheap phones either.
The last time they upgraded our phones we even got a bill credit, was a nice surprise!

You missed the point. Had this clown said man that sucks, I ll try something but its toast, I would have been OK , not happy but OK. So the whole premise is not about the phone so much as the way I was treated. Had I been so sweet young thing they would have fallen all over them selves to take care of things. A fat crippled up old man, just blow him off, as in I cant be bothered. Do I use my phone, no very little only when I travel so the loss is not an issue, the attitude of their people is

You must work for Verizon if you are promoting buying a new phone and defending piss poor customer service!!!!

A customer's choice of what he would like to own and use should be his own. The limitation to that is only what may be available, not what some ill-behaved pimple-faced kid thinks he should have. As on old boss often said, "The customer isn't always right, but the customer is still the customer".

First of all, I don't believe a word of your story.
Sounds highly exaggerated to me.

Secondly, If you were unhappy with the service, Talk to the manager.

but it seems pretty obvious you need a new phone..... or a roll of Duct tape. :ROFLMAO::LOL:
