I just bought a B2650HSDC replacing my 2 8Ns that have served me well over the last 30 years. Just wanted to see if anybody had any tips for a newbie to Kubota and diesel engines, first diesel I have owned. Initial reaction is that the hydro tranny is loud at lower rpms similar to my Husqvarna lawn tractor. Will break in gently to have it ready for winter, main reason to buy it was the cab because we get wind and snow, also the 4wd. May invest in a set of chains so anybody know where to look for a set?

1st - diesel rock, gassers suck! Fuel that is....:D

Dont baby a diesel, once broken in, run it up and operate it at 75-85% throttle, it is a no-no to baby a diesel!

Hydro will get better after a while and a fluid change, S-UDT2 is the stuff of choice, $$$$ but well worth it!

Chains can be found almost anywhere - before the chains, you might want to get some spacers - they will add to the stability also.

Check out www.tirechain.com They have some good choices for tire chains and a good quality.

Congratulations on your new B2650! Two observations.

I'm sure the whine will be louder in a cab version regardless, but I notice when traveling at the same speed the hydro is quieter when in a lower range and the peddle pressed down more than in a higher range with the peddle not pressed as far.

My B7500 with R4 industrial tires slid all over the place on snow and ice. It also was a little hard on the yard so I changed to R3 Turf tires figuring to order chains the following Winter. Snow came before I got around to getting chains but was pleasantly surprised to find it went much better in the snow on Turfs. Well enough that I never did get them and hopefully won't need them for my B2650 which has turf tires.

Have not done any work with it yet, wanted the wife to see it unscathed before getting it dirty. Last night we were looking at lights, signals, etc. Salesman told me it would have rear work lights, not a high priority but he insisted they were part of the rear defogger package. They are missing, front ones work great. My question to B2650 owners is if your unit had the rear work lights or if maybe the sales guy was mistaken? No big deal, just curious.
Not sure about the hydro tranny but will hold judgement until I work it a bit. Any comments on the tranny?
Whine is louder in cab, outside the cab it is negligible.

I took advantage of the Kubota no interest for 5 years, actually it was .07% for some reason that the salesman could not explain. Doing this requires insurance on the unit. Kubota's was $38 per month and I along with the salesman thought that was kind of high, adds just under 10% to the sales price over the life of the loan. He did not tell me about this until yesterday morning when tractor was being delivered. I scrambled around, contacted my home owners insurance company and got it for $6 per month. Just a cautionary comment.

You cant beat Kubota insurance on the unit. Your homeowners wont cover a lot of stuff the Kubota will, ie, being away from home with it when something happens, stupidity, etc... you may want to reconsider that.

what did the dealer say about the missing lights? Besides add on LED lights are much better and cheaper when you DIY

He said he forgot them and is getting a set. Should be an easy field installation since they have the wiring in place already. Don't know how much I will need them but like to get what I was quoted and paid for.

Truthfully it is just to satisfy the financing requirement so the cheaper the better. I guess I am a gambler and would not have insurance on most anything unless required by law or to keep the wife comfortable, but that is just me and would not presume to know anyone else's situation.

Agree, I just installed a set on my tractor. Trust me they are very helpful when that sun disappears and you still need to clean up

So now I am into "fitting" my existing implements to the tractor. Turns out I have to reverse the pins since the lift arms only spread to about 30". One blade has a heavy metal collar that would be impossible to alter so it is no good to me and will be sold with one of my 8Ns. The other blade has a heavy gauge steel lip that I am in the process of cutting, grinding, shaping to accommodate the lift arms and give them some maneuverability. Will see how that works. Reversed the pins on my mower and will test that later. And I thought all I had to do was back up to the implements and hook on, lol.
