New Guy here, looking for a B6100

Greetings all.

I’ve got a line for a b6100, has an angle plow and mower deck, not sure of hours though. Going to try to look at it next week.

Moving to NH this summer and will have a large yard, and I’ve always wanted one of these older kubotas. The 80s machines just look right to me.

Guy is askin $3k for it, but don’t want to go higher than $2k as long as it’s in reliable working shape.

I’ve seen some crazy high prices for these b5100-B7100 machines lately, what would you say is a fair price for one in at least fair condition with a mower deck?

Thanks,

John

The B6100 had a mower deck powered by an electric clutch. The belt came directly down across two small idlers and then crossed (to get the rotation correct) and to the mower.

Just a heads up. The belly mower was/is a pain in the butt!

I bought a new one in 1980 and finally modified to two pulleys so I could use a B-120. It was a common belt, and much less cost than Kubota, could buy locally, and lasted years!!

I'd suggest a small flail mower behind it would mow just as pretty, less trouble, easy to remove so you can use your 3pt for other chores.

Now, buying a B6100 for 2K would probably be rougher than a cob, and needing some repairs. Raise your spending threshold a bit.

Welcome!
Some more info would be helpful. Are you looking for 2WD, or 4? 4WD will cost more.

Deals can be found, if you are patient, active in searching, and willing to drive. I found a pristine, low hour (640) B7100 4WD for $3000, and that included a Woods finish mower. You've got to be at the right place, at the right time.

D2Cat, good to know, thanks. I don’t mind applying a little elbow grease, so hopefully a deal pops up. How difficult is the conversion? Simple bolt on stuff or we talking welding and fab?

Hodge, I am patient and am willing to travel. This one is 4wd, but I’m not sure of condition yet. The guy is going through some family medical issues, and can’t get me any pics till next week.

Other than here and CL, are there any websites to keep an eye on? Any tractor hunting tips?

There are a number of Kubota groups on Facebook. You may very well find one for sale there, and you can post a message that you are looking for one.

I'm finding that these FB Kubota groups are getting bigger than forums. It is a viable resource.

Tractorhouse is another good place to look.

Personally I would stay away from the B6100 - nothing wrong with the tractor, but there are more B7100's running around and a little easier to find.

The 71 series has a few advantages too. Same footprint more or less as the older 61 series but a little bigger engine, a mmm pto (depending on years)

And getting one that has less than 2000 hours on it under $2000 would be a hellva find. I have two B7100s - one has 850 ish hours, paid $3400 with MMM and another with who knows how many hours on it, (2000 maybe) and it too has a MMM, stole it at $2600.

Despite your finances .....look to spend a little more on your new to you machine - unless it has a hidden problem, these machines are almost bullet proof and will last a lot longer with a little TLC.

To answer your question.....3K is a fair price for a machine in "good" shape and MMM....lower than that and you are ahead in my opinion. There are deals to be had......and like you said, patience is a virtue.......a sometimes loose mine!:D

here is a steal : and a long drive!

Wonder what they used that B7100 on Tractorhouse for....13,380 hours?

No, really, their selling it cheap because they can't read the odometer!! They're only off by one decimal point. But then they can't enter the data correctly on the ad either.

Go buy it before they wake up.

Oh man tempting and not very far from me either.
What size would the MMM be on that machine, 60"?
I could use a backup mower for when my 797 gets major service done.
based on the pictures and closeness to the wheels - I would say 60"

Shoot - that seat looks brand new! OR the entire machine was well kept.;)

And it sold. I was hoping it would last until the weekend.
I guess it saved me money since a 72" 3pt King Kutter finish mower is quite a bit cheaper. Also easier to explain to the woman, than a whole new machine

Man it doesn’t pay to miss a day huh? How much did that one sell for? Never even got to see where it was.

I’d love a B7100, and I’ll take your word for it. Mid pto is a big selling point for sure.

3k would take some groveling with the wife, or some serious couch time...

I know they’re out there, with constant looking and all yall’s fine help, I’m sure I’ll land a decent one.

Also looking at Ford 11 and 12 series, but kubota just has my eye and the reputation to boot.

It was in Quincy (west central) IL and priced at $2300, which was a screaming low price, especially with the MMM. I agree with the other guys, that raising your bottom line will be needed. Deals like that $2300 one will be few and far between.

Good luck. Be patient.

Hi Sportfury, I share your love for early model Kubotas.
I too started out looking for a small garden tractor to manage our urban 2 acres and other properties. Ease of transport was a consideration as well. I almost bought a Ford lgt with a loader and hydro tranny. I was tempted by a few Wheel Horses too. Really thinking on what each could do I found the small Kubotas with Diesel engines, 4 wheel drive and cat 1 TPH are in another class entirely.
I adjusted my budget up from $1500 to about $5000. I think the basic tractor will be +/- 3K, and an FEL is easy $1500. I didn’t need a mower but figure $500 - 1K for a mmm or rear finish mower.
Not many to be found in my area, so when I saw one on Craigslist with FEL, Backhoe and 1038 hours for $7200 I jumped on it. No regrets!!!
Quality costs and these are well built machines. If I only had to mow I might be happy with a new Cub Cadet or something. But for everything else the Kubota is superior.
Get the tool you need, it is more expensive to buy the cheapest tool and then replace it.

Last week I was fortunate enough to find a Craigslist B6100, 4WD with 276 hours with two mowers for $3,500.00

Just keep looking!
