mulching blade question

I've got a 50 inch finishing mower, side discharge.
Would like to add mulching blades so the mowed grass isn't an eye sore.
Do I need to buy 3 mulching blades or just one for the blade closest to the discharge?

I run all 3 on my commercial mowers. It will mulch better when the grass clippings circulate in the deck.

I'm running 3. I prefer the Gator Blade version.

The gator blades work really good. I purchased a set for my Bad Boy 60 inch at a flea market for $35. I called the dealer a couple days later and was told they cost $60. Find a flea market!!!

Not sure if they are Gators but I have seen them for $25 a piece.

I put a molded piece of expanded mesh over my discharge and ran the gators and the neighbor said "When did you get a leaf vac?"


EDIT: to add: also can usually get pretty good pricing from Ebay etc on them

Most of the mowers I've seen have a cover on the side discharge when they have mulching blades.

I have mulching blades on my Toro walkbehind and they work pretty well on there. I had a set on my side discharge Landpride finishing mower. I took them off because it would bogg down real bad in tall thick grass. Check out Agri-Supply, they have the best prices I've seen on blades anywhere brand new.
