Surplus and Salvage was an old building where you went and scrounged for office or lab furniture for your office when I still worked there, and when you left or retired that was where it went back to. Some of those desks were a hundred years old. Well after a while they started selling leftover stuff to the public, and I just discovered they have a WEBSITE. From the comfort of your armchair you can see what they have, bid on something or just purchase. I have a new online addiction.... that L5030 Kubota was on that site a while back. Anyway if you are bored with Craigs list, check it out. This weeks offerings include a grain drill, sickle bar skid steer attachment only used twice , a farm cart, Allis Chalmers high row crop tractor, Onan generator and so forth. Prices ranged from $5 to $23,000 for the grain drill. Shipping possible. They tell you about known defects.
I was reminded of this because of the ongoing thread on drill presses. a few months ago I stopped by to get a table, and they had some kind of fairly fancy milling machine up for auction. The engineering machine shop on campus was one of my favorite divisions, they could make you darn near anything. If any of their old stuff turned up, someone on the forum could use it.
