I'll look again to hopefully find it. The book does show a ZIRK (is that better grammar police) thats on the side.
"ZIRK"......yet another try,.... but not quite.......ZERK !
Hopefully, you will get there....eventually :ROFLMAO:

This probably won't help you, but this is where the zerk is on my gearbox. It is on the opposite side of the deck discharge chute.

While not exact, that is very close to the location on my mower on my BX tractor.

Absent a zerk at the gearbox, the middle spindle is not greased as others mentioned.

Am thinking the middle spindle is greased by the oil in the gear box.

I think think your theory is incorrect.

if your mower is anything like mine from 10 years ago and many since - it is not lubricated by gear box oil.

Gearbox is sealed (hopefully) and independent of the spindle bearings. Does nothing for the spindle.

I’m planning on greasing my MMM this weekend.

I bet my zerk looks identical or close to the diagram @85Hokie posted and the photo @Nicfin36 posted. Been greasing that same fitting for 10 years at 4-5 times per mowing season.

I'm pretty certain that your deck has or should have a zerk that goes under the gearbox to lube the centre spindle. All BXs do. I can see that you haven't found it and therefore think it's not there, but basically everyone here who has or has had a BX says there's a zerk. If you don't find it and grease it, then your spindle will eventually fail.

Your tractor, you can do as you wish. If I were you, I'd take some good photos of the relevant area and post them, and then we can maybe help you.

Technically it is a Grease Nipple Fitting commonly called Zerk Fitting named after Oscar Zerk who invented it. Anyone who can’t figure out what someone is talking about when they say zirk, zyrk or any other form of Zerk and feels they need to constantly correct someone looking for help are petty, have no life and are doing their best to drive away people from posting questions asking for help or advice.

The zerk or grease nipple you are looking for is #80 in the PDF attachment.

It is not in the gearbox, it is in the LH gearbox mounting bracket and it supplies grease to the lower bearing in the center blade spindle. The gearbox supports the top of the spindle shaft and has its own fluid.

The two outer spindle shafts have an upper and a lower bearing which are lubed through their grease zerks/grease nipples. To date, all RCK decks used on the BX series tractors have this zerk in the same place.

Finally found that little chit. Case closed.
Was so glad when you posted that you found it. Good for you! 👍👍

I said I was going to grease my MMM last weekend but didn’t get there until tonight after work. I’m late, but some others may find it useful.

Not the same model mower, but looks like the common theme for the middle spindle.

I haven't said everything that could be said, but I'd get banned for saying it. And they're zerks, dammit, not jirks, or zurks, or any other BS you want to call them. OK, maybe "grease fittings."
Zerk....named after Hamilton Zerkowski, the inventor.
