I did a drain and refill of my engine crankcase today, and I thought that I had enough of Rotella T6 5W40 diesel engine oil, but I came up about a quart short. Went to 3 stores today looking for the Rotella T6, and all of them, the shelves were bare. Checked on Amazon, and no inventory either. What are your thoughts on adding a quart of Valvoline full synthetic 5W40 diesel engine oil to the Rotella T6 engine oil? T6?

I have mixed Rotella T6 and the regular Rotella before in my truck when I had that situation. It just makes a synthetic blend like Rotella also sells.

I mix motor oils with impunity. Have for near 60 years. Never an issue.

It's not the type or even the quality, as long as there is enough! ;-)

Always ran 6 quarts Motorcraft Syn Blend and 2 quarts Penzoil full syn in my F150. 180K no problems until I blew the transmission. Hope to get a new trans and get it on the road again.

That T6 5W-40 is mightly scarce around here as well when I was looking over the last few weeks Most stores that normally stock it are bare - Walmart, TSC, Napa etc. I found some at HD of all places and bought the 4 they had last week.

I try to keep it consistent but will mix if in a bind. Actually, used some of the T6 to top up my DD this weekend (not a diesel)

After searching for 2 days, I bought a quart of Valvoline 5w-40 to finish the job. I also ran into a problem with the oil filter. I assumed that it was the same filter that I used on my old BX22, only to find that it wasn't. Drove down to NAPA to get a filter, since the dealership was already closed until Monday. Guess that I will now need to stock up on the new filter, and find someone that can use the remaining filters that I no longer have any use for.

Sounds like what i posted a couple weeks ago is getting worse. My son who drives a lot for work is trying to get a couple changes stocked ahead and finding his favorite is short too. It must be in some areas more than others maybe because of trucking, because here in NY napa and advance auto are both still promoting oil change specials.
