Max RPM?

What should the max RPM be for a BX2380? Mine tops out at 3500 - just barely above the required PTO speed. Should it rev any higher than that?

Here is what I found on your engine.


The Kubota D902 is a 0.9 L (898 cc, 54.8 cu·in) straight-three, water-cooled naturally aspirated vertical diesel engine manufactured by Kubota.


The Kubota D902 engine has a spherical type сombustion сhamber with glow plug, Bosch MD mini fuel injection pump, and Bosch throttle type injection nozzle. It has a 72.0 mm (2.83 in) cylinder bore and a 73.6 mm (2.9 in) piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 24.0:1.


The D902 diesel engine produced 25.2 PS (18.5 kW; 24.8 HP) at 3,600 rpm of gross (intermittent) horsepower and 54.4 Nm (5.55 kg·m; 40.15 ft·lb) at 2,400 rpm of torque.

That chart say max RPM at 3800 .......... I aint never seen a BX turn anything like that - 3500-3550 is top end on two of my BX's

I guess one could move the stop nut IF they wanted too!

Here is the key verbiage.

That partt about max speed is not max power. That 3800 is most probably over run speed

My BX23S tops out at 3500,maybe a 1/2 notch higher... probably same engine ?

Yes, same engine.

I would never run that engine higher than 3600 rpm. That engine would likely not be able to sustain 3800 rpm for very long before blowing up.

Is the PTO about 3150 RPMS?

It's about 3200 on the tach.

Yes, it is.
From what nearly everyone has said, mine, at ~3500 rpm is right where it should be.
The main reason I asked was the lack of a redline mark on the tach. I'm more used to high performance GAS engines with (relatively) clear redlines.
So, 3500 is fine.

The governor in the engine will not let it red line!

Sheets, you BX2360 could be adjusted to Rev higher if you wanted to. Your B on the other hand is a different engine and is not supposed to get anywhere near that RPM.
