those are pretty good tractors

they did have some known/common issues, such as (but not limited to) PTO clutch brake failure, hydraulic clutch failures, I did an engine or two (failure to maintain), and all three of those can get pricey. Back in the day a pto clutch kit and an engine (with labor) was enough to almost buy a new M9540 (by itself, no loader). I'm sure the costs have risen since then, but it gives you an idea how much repairs can cost, which should give you an idea how much you "could" have to put into it while you own it. I'm not saying a new tractor is a better deal, both new and used have their plus and minus on each end.

Thanks for your reply and knowledge! The tractor overall I would say has been well maintained, the motor starts easy and doesn't blow smoke. The pto has not had very much use at all it was mainly loader work carting sand at a racecourse.I am curious about the pto clutch and hydraulic clutch whether there is anything you can do/not do to prevent these giving trouble(apart from general servicing).thanks again!

It would be very much appreciated if any one could advise if they know of the v3800 engine doing high 10k plus hours without issue.
I have 6500hrs on my 108s 2015. I know that’s not 10,000 but it’s been a good engine/ tractor. I have a buddy that has a 25k gen set with the v3800 trailer mounted in their rental fleet he said it has 17,000 hours. He has been there since it’s new He said 2 years ago they replaced everything that was run with a belt but never internal problems. That’s pretty good in my books. Most will never see those hours with all their tractors combined.

@lugbolt mentioned the PTO brake. This may not apply to the Kubota, but our Ford's manual recommends reducing the PTO (engine) speed to idle before disengaging the PTO in order to minimize wear to the brake. Especially for something with a high rotating mass like a bush hog.

I don't know if Kubota actually tells people to do that, but I certainly recommend it on all equipment that has a pto brake. Reduces wear significantly.
