Looking to buy a compact tractor

New to the whole tractor thing. Looking to buy a compact tractor to mow three acres. Would also like to use it to till a garden and possibly plow our driveway.

Been searching the local craigslist and saw this one:

Is this a good deal? Will it do what I want it to do?

Looks pretty good to me, B7100's are a very capable tractor, parts are fairly easy to come by, but you'll have to learn how to do all your own service work if you want to save some money.

I think you can do better. At first glance it appears they have cut off the 3PH arms - an added expense when you try to put on an implement. You'll want a ROPS; another expense. The tractor is about 35 years old, and officially obsolete - Kubota doesn't stock parts for it anymore, so you are in the used market for them.
I'd figure about half their asking price.

I you dont mine making a 6 hour hike I have a B6100E I'm selling for $2,500!

And NO it is not obsolete. I can get parts all day long from my dealer for my B6100 which is roughly the same model. No the dealer may not have it in stock on a shelf in their parts room but they can order anything I've ever needed from Georga and have it too me within a few days.

The basic stuff like filters, fluids and some parts can be crossed over and found at Napa for a savings.

If the Tractor was 35 years old this would be 2026. The tractor is a 1991. I own a 1990 B9200 and any part I need I can get from My Dealer. He may have to order a few things but it only takes a couple of Days to get them. This is 2013!!! Just saying.

I really want something that is 4x4 , have a nice slope on the property. Suppose it would be better for plowing the driveway too.

I'll just have to keep on the lookout it seems.

Mike, I'm more or less in the same corner of the state you're in and went through this a few years ago. The newer ones don't so up very often and when they do they are often priced as high as a new one. Not trying to be discouraging, just realistic. As always happens, after I bought mine a used one that would fill the bill showed up near Fort Wayne. Anyway, my counsel is: be patient. They don't show up often, but they do show up if you wait long enough.

I understand. Once you add the FEL, the price goes up quickly. Keep looking. 3k to 4k should work. If you can get by with 2WD you could save alot.......but I like the 4WD. I just bought mine in Aug. Shopped for about 6 months. Keep looking. Good luck!
