Looking for a back blade.

for my B2910 (30hp). Want one that tilts, angles, offsets, and reverses. Looked that the ones at Tractor Supply and near as I can tell it doesn't do all those, and its quite a bit lighter than others.

Gearmore (GB60) has one that the main beam swings to give the offset, and one (GB5), like most I've seen, you shift the blade over and the main beam is fixed (similar to the LP RB16). Any advantage of one style over the other? It looks like the GB60 will offset considerably more than others, 35" vs ~12".

I was thinking a 5' wide blade, but the Gearmore beam swing ones start at 6'. Is a 6' blade getting to big for my tractor? Course I have a number of 6' wide gates, so that's why I was originally thinking a 5' wide blade. My tractor is about 4 1/2' wide.

anyone have a back blade that they think is a best buy? or do most people just get what's available at their local tractor place?

Want to keep the price tag under $1k. Preferably closer to $700.

mainly for spreading stuff, clearing out ditches, cutting swales, cutting/widening drainage ditches etc. I'm using my potato plow, but its kind of narrow and when the horses step in it enough times it collapses in on itself.

Most people's blades are about tractor width with the blade angled. That means, unless you dismount your blade and remount it offset, you have to drive with two wheels in the ditch you are trying to clean out.

With the swinging main beam, you can offset or center the blade in seconds, as needed.

I'd go for 5', unless you want to angle it every time you go through a gate. 6' is probably marginal for your size tractor, if you are working it hard.

I would agree with both above - however, if moving material (gravel, dirt - snow) you want the 6' - and your machine will pull that fine. YOU want it to be as wide at the rear width of tires at that angle.

If you just need to move loose dirt around or flatten gravel out, the 5' will work fine.

Personally I would go with the 6'......you'll find the 5' lacking.

AS for going through gates - I would imagine the blade will be set angled to one side or the other - if you get an offset blade.......are you going to place it in the zero position each time you go through the gate? So turning a 6'er will not be a problem!!!!:)

The offset blades are great for reaching into ditches and cleaning them out btw - be careful - when the blade extends, the torque when you hit something will spin the front end around in a hurry!

I would look on your local craigslist for a used blade......you'll get it for half the price - and if you buy a new one, the first thing you will do is scrub the paint off and place a few dings in it!!!!:)

Try to get one with heavy bolt-on reversible cutting edge as well.

I sure agree with 85 Hokie. I would go with the 6 footer also to be able to cover tracks at full angle. My B2650 handles it no problem.

I've been watching craigslist for a while now, and haven't run across a worthy rear blade to go look at....either way too beat up (I don't mind them being used and rusty) or they're asking way too much money (there's a 8' wide one for $2,800). Not much in the way of good used tractor implements around here.

The Everything Attachments Deluxe blade also looks interesting.

Used pricing is the same here. I had a new piece shipped to my house from the East coast that was cheaper than local. Local company wouldn't even respond to an email. I don't get it.

I like my Land Pride RB1660. It was well under your $1000 budget (and I'm in overpriced Canada) and it covers my tire tracks at full angle with the B2620.

The hydraulic angle was an option, and with it you have to pull a pin on the hydraulic cylinder to reverse the blade. No big deal. It also tilts.

I have a b2910 and a landpride rb1572. If you want to angle the blade, you need a 72" if you want to cover your tracks. My blade will offset, but will only tilt if I adjust the hitch arms. I have plowed snow, redid my driveway, did dirt work back filling a tile line. I have not had any problems with the blade, or pulling it.

looks like the RB1660 only offsets about a foot. I'm thinking (which isn't always a safe thing to do) that being able to swing the entire blade over like some of the others would be more useful. Course it seems like the further outboard its cutting the more leverage it will have and the more likely for something to go wrong in a hurry.

Have you looked at everythingattachments.com deluxe 6-way scraper blade? It tilts, swivels, reverses and offsets for under $800, delivered, for the 72" model.
