I am trying to adapt an old Meyer snow plow to my L2501 tractor. I ran this plow on my New holand tractor for years. What I would like to do is work the angle cylinders of the plow to be controlled by the curl function of the loader valve. The plow cylinders are single acting, that is fluid to one extends while fluid returns from the other.
I bought new quick connects from Summit and had new hoses made by my local NAPA guy. Put it all together......AND IT DID NOT WORK.

I triple checked the hose routeing, free movement of angle cylinders, no debris in hydraulic lines. Plow did move to one side then nothing else.

Is there a check valve in the Curl circuit? I have spent hours in search functions and cant find an answer or similar problem. Thanks for reading this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From what I understand you have done it should be working.

Can you verify that the Meyers snow plow can be moved in the other direction? Reverse the hoses at the valve end and see if it moves the other direction. Or use the lift circuit to see if it will work (but I doubt that it would matter).

I am suspicious that the one cylinder that doesn’t move may have a failed seal.

And post some pictures of the cylinders and valve if you can.

I imagine that @TheOldHokie will comment on this one soon and give you tests

Your LA525 has regen on the dump circuit. When its activated it will send pressure to both cylinders so it cant be used to control two opposed SA cylinders. You need to add a third function valve.

Yep what @TheOldHokie said.

The other option is to swap the SA to DA cylinders.
But note it will still work wonky because of the regen.
I have a lightly used manual single spool valve with mounting bracket on the shelf right now thats excess to my needs.

Its a Prince Wolverine valve, 100% plug and play and considerably less than two new cylinders.

For a bit more money I can include custom made 3rd function hoses, fittings, and couplers for the boom and still beat or match the cost of two new cylinders.

BTW, I havent fully analyzed the circuit but the cylinders are opposed so I have doubts if it will work with two DA cylinders. If you went with one cylinder it works fibe but angling force is greatly diminished.

Thanks for your help and quick response. I don't know why but my first thought was a check valve. so the regen explains a lot.
I am getting too old to use all the stuff (Wife calls it junk) I have. For what ever reason I have held on to a 12volt hyd pump/reservoir unit that I have not used for more than 20 years. If I can get that to work for this plow then I can use that instead of a third function valve. one less thing for the estate sale!

To be clear - you need a DOUBLE ACTING valve on that power pack.

Personally i would sell the power pack to garner domestic points and use the proceeds to buy an inexpensive valve. Much easier to install and use.

Thanks Dan, That power unit was used to work a DA cylinder for a "back drag" snow plow on the back of a jeep. I also have a Meyers pump unit that I could make work for this plow.
