Kubota only lists the steering shaft as an assembly and doesn't list u joints. Anyone know a part number or if there happens to be a standard joint that fits?

How are they attached to the shaft? If they have a spline or are pinned you may be able to go to a "knowledgeable" auto parts or steering/suspension store and take them in and match them up with something the correct size, if they have them. If they are welded or press/crimp fit, you may or may not be able to do something with them.

They are a custom build unit, That is not likely a standard.
There is no individual parts avalible for it.
The shaft and Joint is not that expensive, Just get a new one. ;)

$140 from Messicks.

There are a variety of u-joints available depending on how handy the OP is. If the local farm supply doesn’t have something, they can be sourced from a variety of performance automotive companies or any of the auto chassis vendors.

Looks like a pair of aftermarket yokes and joints would be the easiest fix. Well maybe not as easy as buying a new one. I was remembering the shaft being more than $140 but that is still a lot when only need two $7 u joints. I'll knock one out tonight and see how close it to something off the shelve.

They are splined. Probably not the common 3/4-31 steering joint spline either. Pinned, keyed, or glued (weld) would be an easy replacement though. Guess Kubota doesn't think anyone can replace a u joint ;)

For all posterity and anyone that happens along searching for a steering joint in the future those joints are made by Febest in Europe and the part number is AS-1540. They are about $10 each plus shipping. Far cry cheaper than $300 for new shafts. They are stake in joints so not that hard to replace. Few whacks with hammerto get old ones out and just "stake" the new one at each cap with a punch and hammer.

Thanks for sharing what you found. I’m certain others will benefit from it in the future.

That’s a nice savings!!!
