L3800 Starter won't disengage

Got a L3800 thats been giving me some problems starting lately.....sometime acted like battery was dead then click click multiple times.....this was not every time...problem is not battery...yesterday same thing but when it finally started now the started wonted disengage..removed starter cleaned made sure everything moving as should and as soon as i hook battery back up it starts turning over with key off.....HELP PLEASE

It's a bad starter, replace it!
Sounds like when you took it apart your either missed a broken or damaged part or you have something not put together right and is causing the solenoid to stay engaged! ;)

dont think its the starter...i have 12v on the black wire with the plug on the end going to solenoid with the key off....thinking it maybe a starter relay...if so where is it or maybe the key switch

Is the main power wire contacting the connector on the small wire? Seen that one done a few times when someone gets in a hurry hooking the wires back up and not paying attention to the relation of the connectors. Done that one once or twice myself :eek:
