I am the proud new owner of an L3301 with LA525 FEL. So far, I am impressed and have a lot of ideas to expand the capabilities of this machine to help me even further.

First idea is to add 3rd function to the FEL for the eventual operation of a grapple. Kubota Parts does not lead me anywhere as far as a kit to add this feature. I have seen Land Pride (380-153M) kits and it looks like W.R. Long will kit one up. My local dealer is lost, simply saying Kubota does not list a kit for this model, so they guess it can't be done. I'd like to stay with Kubota if possible for the obvious warranty issues, even if it may be a little more expensive.

Second is to add rear remotes. I'd like to add one set that would operate attachments with 2 position double acting cylinders like transport cylinder on a rake, position double acting cylinders with check valve like a hydraulic top link or attachment tilt and to simply act as a hydraulic power supply for a 3pt log splitter with it's own on-board valve. Any ideas how to do this with one valve that would not need to be reconfigured or "bungeed"?

Thanks in advance...

Usually one or two sets of rear remotes will do what you want for the rear of your tractor. As far as the 3rd. function valve for the front that should be a separate valve. Dealer prices are around $800.00 for one set of rear remotes. The 3rd.Function if independent with no deverter is around $1,500, $1000.00 for valve and $500.00 for labor.

On E-Bay now, $899.00 for Kubota without installation and hard piped to front with quick couplers and of course tractor pick up and delivered. So don't where you get $1,200 for all that?

Hydraulics are not rocket science. Any hydraulics can be expanded, modified, changed, etc. Well, fully self contained stuff is hard to do that to, but we aren't talking about that here.

You can have the dealer do it for $1200 or go to a competent hydraulics shop and probably get the same for about 10-30% less. The warranty would not be from Kubota but from the shop, so there is risk there.

It's also possible to DIY it if you have a decent understanding of hydraulics. If you aren't comfortable with that, then take it and have it done.

Now, with that said, hydraulic add in is not the only option out there. You can do electric over hydraulics and just you electric joysticks or switches. Most larger, modern, tractors actually have electrically actuated main hydraulics so they can combine it in with drive-by-wire and you are only running electrics into the cabs, no hydraulic lines or control rods at all!

So, whatever the cost locally, just look at all your options and pull the trigger... so to speak... (pun entirely intended) :D

I would have to disagree with this, a lot of thing have changed between these 2 models.
While some parts might work between models the big picture of the hydraulic system has changed.
Sadly newer and more complicated is not always better, or cheaper.

Thanks, for the tips here. Does anyone know if Kubota kits a 3rd function option for the L3301/L3901 yet? If so, anyone have any part numbers? Obviously I'd like to stay Kubota, installed by Kubota dealer even if it costs a little more. $300-$500 savings does not interest me if I have a problem later and tells me I'm on my own due to the modifications.

Just had 50 hour service done. While at the dealer, I had 2 rear remotes installed. Both valves have float detent one end. Cost was higher than expected at @$1,700.00 but all Kubota, no warranty issues and a neat professional looking job.

I've ordered a top n tilt kit from Fit-Rite, but not sure I can live with 14 week delivery. Really only need the cylinders, lines, restrictors and fittings now. Anybody have a good alternate? Top link cylinder needs to be ball both ends. Side link cylinder needs to be ball at top, clevis on bottom, bent slightly, not straight. Should be great with rear blade for grading and snow removal and keeping the bush hog level on the hilly terrain I have to deal with.

While at the dealer, they flashed the computer with an update to address the crank angle sensor code I got at 3 hours. Engine sounds quieter and runs smoother. I wonder if it was in "limp" mode with the code all that time.

Got QD pallet forks for the FEL and a 3pt pallet mover for the rear. Using IBC containers for firewood. Overfilled with oak, 3pt pallet fork picks up fine. FEL marginal with counterweight/loaded tires. Forks really handy for handling logs. No more rigging to the bucket with chains.

As far as hydraulics go, I will likely add the 3rd rear remote or Land Pride 3rd function in the future. Undecided if I can justify a grapple yet.

Looking for a small used Farmi or Hudson skidder winch. New are $$$$. Working a right of way now, where one could be real handy and top n tilt would make it a breeze to set-up.

Anyone using spacers to increase rear wheel tread? I have them out as far as possible now. Any recommendations? I heard Kubota have 1.5" for a total of 3" increase in tread. More than that and warranty compromised in the event you snap an axle. Again, those hills.

If you can fallow simple instructions buy the w.r. long kit and install it your self for the 3rd function. I did mine this past fall on my 3901 only took about an hour maybe an hour and a half
