Hello all, I'm Chuck from SE PA. I have a gear drive, 4WD, L2800 with a LA463 loader. I pulled up to some logs I'd cut up, cut the throttle, placed everything in neutral, set the brake and hopped off. As I got off the tractor sputtered and died as if it was still in gear or some other kill switch wasn't registering. I turned the key off, loaded the bucket with wood, hopped back on and the ignition was dead. All the idiot lights come on when I turn the key on, there is just no reaction. No click or anything. The tractor sputtering and dying is something that has happened a few times in the past but the tractor always restarted without any issues. Sometimes it might sputter but not die. Does anybody know how I'd go about testing the kill switches. The seat switch has 3 wires, I found the switch for the lever to the left (high, low, reverse), but don't know where the other switches are. Any and all comments and assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like a switch to me as well. If you ask me, the US has gone overboard on "safety" switches. You will need a multi meter to test continuity across the switches. An "open" switch has no continuity across it. That means the connection isn't being made. When the switch "closes" the connection is made and power can travel through. If it were me, I'd start bypassing a few of those pieces of crap...but that is just me and my silly opinion.

Thanks for your reply. I'd bypass some switches but I'm just not sure where to insert the jumpers. The lever switch has continuity but I'm not sure how to test the seat switch and don't know where the gear shift lever switch is. Any advice? Thanks.

Don't hold me to this cause I'm not 100% sure but more than likely the gear shifter doesn't have a safety switch. If the range selector has one there is no need for one on the gear shift.

Not that I would say for you to do it but if it was my tractor the seat switch would be gone. If my tractor had to be cut off every time I got off I would wear the starter out in a month.

My L2800d died while driving. Checked and replaced fuel solenoid. No help there. checked voltage to solenoid with switch on - zero voltage. Removed solenoid. The tractor starts and runs normally with the solenoid removed. Next, and not sure, if there is a relay involved it could be defective but I am not sure where it is or what it looks like. Oh, checked all fuses first, all OK. I removed the dash panel and found two relay looking devices there. I have no service manual so I don't know if this may be what I am looking for. By the way, I defeated the seat kill switch long ago, what a nuisance it was. Local Kubota dealer couldn't help with my problem, but tried. At a dead end here.

Start with getting the WSM and read the trouble shooting section on the fuel solenoid. ;)

Thank you very much for the link to the WSM. This gives me some direction in solving the problem.
If you can't find it just ask and we can point you in other directions to get to the bottom of the issue. ;)

I now have the answer to the problem. The OPC Timer, part no. TD060-30500, had gone out. Yesterday I bought a fuel stop relay and the OPC Timer. Tried the relay first with no change. Next I replaced the OPC Timer and that, my friends, solved the problem. I fired up the engine and drove around with no problems detected. I appreciate your interest and hope this will help you, or others, if you ever have a similar issue.
