While working on the tractor as mentioned in my other thread it was discovered tranny was empty of lube. The fellow whose garage I am using for this work had about 3 gals of super $$$$ 80-90? sythetic gear oil. 5 gal is about $500. How he got it I dont know but we put it in.

Now in closer reading of the manual I see tranny calls for other things beside 90wt. Multi grade is what it calls for. What mulit SAE numbers it does not say. Just: Kubota UDT hydrostatic, Mobile 350, shell Donax DM or DT, or exon Torq 56.

Im guessing I have about 3 more gals to go. What is your suggestion to purchase to fill rest of way (orrr gaddddd.... drain it and do full refill)

DO NOT MIX! You will cause more issues!

1 of 2 choices
#1 Fill it the rest of the way with the same fluid, not much difference between the 90w and 80w90 and a synthetic will keep flowing.
#2 Drain all of it and change the filter/s if they are the paper type.
Then use a universal hydraulic fluid to fill it, it's cheap and it works very well on older tractors.

PS- I stole your Avitar and use it at Benzworld.org where Im a moderator for the Unimog Forum. Should have asked first. My appologies. Can change if your wish.

Mogs are basically High Speed Tractors right:D. And both being commonly diesel and heavy hauler I guess that fits the Train thing well too.

I have a L245DT and work around heavy equipment. Many times I end up with odds and ends of fuel, antifreeze, motor oil,and hyd fluid. You want to drain what you have in there now and refill the tractor with trans/dralic fluid that TSC carries. The rear end gear oil also runs your rear three point lift, and in some cases your front loader. The TSC stuff will be alot thinner and better flowing. Got some fresh hyd. oil off a drill rig and used it in my loader; that was a mistake even though it was free it was a much thicker oil. It ended up in a well broke in log splitter. Put some 15-40 diesel motor oil in a 90's 350 chevy motor. Everything is fine on my hours drive to work when suddenly I have no oil pressure. Pull over check the oil and it is full on the dip stick. Pins and needles driving the interstate for next half hour. Mechanic at work said the detergent in the oil knocked some crud loose and had got into the sending unit. Good luck with your 235 they are well built.
