Curious what type metal these oil pans are made of.
Aluminum ?
Went to attach my 200 watt magnetic heater to it and it doesn't stick.
What the heck.

Yes - AlUminum! ( pronounce like the British would ;))

The fact of heating the oil is ok idea - you will find with today's oil - not needed as much as heating the coolant in the system - works far better in getting the engine up to temperatures.

Now what am I going to use that magnetic heater for I
sold the old tractor with the nice flat bottomed steel oil pan.
Suppose Ill have to investigate the coolant heater $$ or just
run the kerosene salamander with a tarp over the tractor.

A coolant heater is a MUCH better idea than risking a salamander burning your tractor to a crisp!

How about a bucket of hot coals from the wood stove
under the oil pan. Use to do that some with my old green tractor
before I bought the magnet heater.
