Good day all,

The last thing I would like to do on my project is pull the motor apart. I took the Exhaust Manifold of today for painting. What I noticed was that the Port closest to the Clutch was very caked up. It looks like oil build up, but may also be un-burnt Diesel. I did start the motor before tearing the tractor down and it sounded fine. I'm no mechanic, so I may be wrong. The other three ports look fine. This tractor was standing for an un known time. Any ideas, or should I take the top off?

Thanks again and regards Thys.

Before "popping the top off" - do a compression check - that will tell you a lot with those numbers.

You can a "cheap" one at harbor freight.

x2 on the compression test suggested above.

If low, perhaps run a leakdown test to assess if valve or rings.
