I had my tractor, which is a little over 2 yrs old with 119 hrs, just quit on my whole mowing the other day. I had 2 bars of fuel left but when I looked in the tank it didn’t look like that much. I checked the fuel filter and it had some water and a few small pieces of what looks like rust in it. I emptied it and screwed it back on. I couldn’t figure out how to get it to fill back up. Turns out my tractor has a fuel filter housing that has a check valve in it and when you screw it on it’s supposed to fill up on its own. It didn’t. I took it back off and even pushed the check valve up by hand and no fuel came out. Keep in mind I did fill up the tank to well over half a tank after I found out it had two bars left. Could anybody help me figure out how to diagnose what’s wrong? Does this have another filter that could be clogged. Does it have an electric fuel pump. I know it has a mechanical one down stream of the fuel filter but I’m not getting fuel to the filter.

My guess is the the fuel tank has junk or algae in it.
Try taking the line off the filter that comes from the tank and see if you get any fuel flow.
If not something is in the tank.

The fuel gauge sensor is know to rust if exposed to moisture and then flake off and when run low enough.
It then get stuck in the outlet of the fuel tank and on the inlet of the filter housing and cause issues.

Have a pair of clamping pliers set to clap the fuel line, and have a clean bucket to catch fuel.
Take the cap off the tank, remove the fuel line.
Do you get good unimpeded flow?
If you do then clamp that off and remove the filter housing and lines and you will need to clean and flush out the inlet to the filter housing.

If you don't get a good flow, take an air compressor and give the fuel line a quick blast and check for flow.
If you now have flow, you're going to need to pull the fuel tank and clean it out, and replace the fuel sending unit if it's rusted.
In the future keep the tank full and treat the fuel for water and algae to keep it from doing that.

Also check the fitting going into the filter housing when you have the line off, those are known to plug up with junk.

Thanks guys. I ordered a new fuel filter assembly cause I needed the filter anyway. So today I’m going to change it out and blow the lines out. I’m pretty sure it’s stopped up since the new assembly allows you to push on the check valve and you can blow air easily through it. On mine right now you can push the check valve in and no fuel comes out at all. So between the tank and filter there is a blockage and as far as I know there is t any other filters or fuel pumps or anything else to cause problems. Just the line from the tank to the filter assembly. Is this correct
