This is a 2 part question...

Reverse top speed is slower that forward top speed. Is this normal?

Also, is there a way to increase the top speed in forward of the tractor? I do a bit of roading and it would be nice to get an extra 5mp/h out of it.

Thanks :)

Reverse is always slower than forward......unless it is a shuttle shift.

AS for going faster- increase RPM's to max and it will go faster.....IF not 4wd - increase rear tire sizes - it will go faster too.

There is a small stop on the HST pedal - not sure I would play with that :D:)

Even shuttles are slower in reverse. ;)

Yes like 85Hokie said about the only way to get more top end out of it would be to increase tire size, but to get 5MPH more out of it, you would have to get stupid large tires for it. :p

I suggest towing it on a trailer for more top speed! :D

85Hokie alluded to adjusting the stop bolt on the HST pedal. If that is stopping your pedal before it reaches full forward speed, it can be adjusted to allow full forward speed. Another thing is to check if your engine speed is reaching full rated RPM. Adjusting the throttle stop screw may give you more engine RPM. Of course I say these things with the normal disclaimers. Do it at your own risk. These are not racing tractors and if it is working to your expectations when performing tractor tasks, it probably would be better to just leave it alone. None of what I suggested will give you 5 MPH more anyway. You may gain 1+ MPH but is that really going to help you?

What tractor do you have?

There's a bit possibly available in engine rpm as the D1105-E3B makes 3600 rpm, you would have to check engine specs, especially valve train springs and components. However, you would also need to find out if the HST is rated for higher rpm. Personally I'd be using a trailer, or just get some nice music to listen to while your going down the road so you can forget about the speed for a while. YMMV
EDIT: And even if you got yours running at 3600, and the HST could handle it,it would still only be an increase of approx 3.6 mph. And I expect the HST would be the first point of failure or certainly feel the brunt of it.

It's funny how equipment differs Wolfman. When you get up in wheel loaders the reverse is faster than the forward gears.

My old 980H would run almost 23 mph forward and almost 24 mph in reverse. And let me just say this, 24 in reverse on a 80K lb loader with quarter turn steering is a hand full.

Thanks guys.

She's 4wd, so I suppose it stays as is for top speed. I don't want to mess with reliability.

To bad it wasn't possible to change out a sprocket or something, like on motorcylce gearing :)

I did get it in my trailer today. Only had to take my rear blade off to fit (6ft wide blade, trailer opening (covered trailer) only 5'6"

I will plow my grandmothers driveway from time to time but usually road it over. Its a 30 min drive with the B2620, 5-8 min with trailer. Just got to find a creative way to get the blade in the back :)

Thanks!

Leave the blade on the 3pt raised and locked and rotated, or unbolt the blade on the main pivot point?
